November 2020 --> 14 years natural!!!
Are you a 4a/b natural that has that Ateyaaa swang when you press/flat iron your hair? Please share your secrets/tips to achieving this here:grin:

YES PLEASE SOMEONE SHARE!!! PLEASE!!!
I CANNOT GET MY HAIR TO SWANGGG FOR SH*T
NO MATTER HOW LITTLE PRODUCT I USE AND WHAT CONDITIONER I MAY USE MY HAIR STILL WOULD STOP A BULLET.
MAYBE MINES JUST WASNT MEANT TO SWAANG
SOMEONE HELP A SISTA OUT LOL

I have swang! I try to clarify every time I straighten so I don't have alot of product build up. After that and my Deep Conditioner I use a light leave in conditioner and then Air Dry! For me the key to swang an no swang is how heavy I am with products. The last product I use on my hair is Heat Protectant.

IMHO, Because we are trying to be cautious with our hair during the straightening process we tend to use a tad toooo much product just scale back and you will have swang.

Another secret (thats probably not a secret, lol) I have is after flat ironing instead of bumping the ends to get a curl, I make these really BIG grand-ma curls (yes, this is what I call them) then I wrap my hair. This allows the hair to be fluffy when I unwrap rather than stiff!

I rarely straighten but when I have...I have swang. I use CHI Silk infusion to blow out and press my hair for hair with swang. But like I said...I don't do it much and haven 't in a long time.

OP, I love your hair in your sig.

I get swang :)

I use:
-less products
-the correct flat iron for my hair (for me it's pure ceramic with multiple plates)
-the correct heat setting for my hair (for ME it's 425-450)
-only spray protectant and a LITTLE serum. if the product says one pump of serum, I only use one pump.

Oh and the other thing is that I hydrate when I deep condition under my steamer.

That's all I do. And while it's straight I use coconut oil as needed but nothing else on my ends. My most recent flat iron results are in my signature.

A well done blowout with my Andis Tourmaline Ionic Blowdryer where I put *just* enough serum I use this:

My hair is already very straight at this step.

Then I would MaxiGlide my hair in small sections generously using the steam feature. For this step I use the SPRAY version of the IC heat protectant:

I add tiny bits of coconut oil as I go along for a little moisture and shine.

And this is the result: Flowy swangin shiny hair :cool2:

If you dont have a MaxiGlide you can also flat-iron your hair with a 1" fully ceramic flat iron like the Amika, with that you'll need to employ the comb-chase method and if your hair is as tightly coily as mine...possibly hot comb the roots before you flat-iron as well.

Oh!! This is a phenomenon I only just experienced for the first time! I  it! For days my hair blew in the wind as if I was in a pantene commercial.

I've only been able to obtain it, to date, with a collagen based bkt product in. But I don't straighten my hair often so it's not like I get much practice.

Thanks ladies ill be trying some of these methods. I may need to ease up on the heat protectant. I cant do what ateeya does, blow dry, flat iron, then curl. I will go bald headed QUICK! but i adore her swang!
Once again thank u ladies for the tips.
