I tried this before and I got the same results. I don't know what the problem is. It worked so well in the beginning but now........
I've even tried using just Giovanni Direct and it still came out BLAH!

I had the same problem with Giovanni Direct. I have to partially dry my hair to keep it from being hard.

I use Profectiv's Break Free....

ETA:
and I sometimes put Profectiv's RootHealth on my new growth....

I airdry in a bun also!

Does the Profectiv's Roothealth really soften your ng? I've seen that so many times in the bss but I always pass it up.

I use Aphogee leave-in reconstructor spray then apply Garnier length & strength leave-in conditioner cream a bit of oil to the ends and I air-dry in a wrap.. (  *I hear all your gasps* :lachen: ) Then I flat iron when it's dry, it's always soft.

You're the second person that has mentioned this product. So you spray your entire hair with it?

yes....it does a really good job of softening my new growth! I mostly apply it at night, and let it soak in overnight....

I use a leave-in conditioner (whichever I feel like using at the time), apply Paul Mitchell Skinny Straight Serum, and then a little Motions Foaming Wrap Lotion. If I want my hair straight, I just comb it straight down, and I braid it if I want some waves. When I comb it straight, it dries almost completely straight, and in both cases it is very soft and light once it dries, not at all weighed down.

Yup on the bolded....I do as well, with two dollops Africa's Best Leave In as well.:)

Yeah Giovanni Direct leaves my hair soft and light (the ends at least) but not my new growth.

OKay, so last night I cowashed and airdried with a lil bit of Giovanni Direct and Chi silk infusion. My new growth is not crunchy at all and my hair is soft and fluffy like. I like it! I can't keep my hands outta my hair right now.
Thanks everyone for all of your responses. I never even thought to use serum when airdrying. It really does make a difference.

Glad you found something that worked for you!:yay:

You might want to try Aveda Brilliant Universal Styling Creme too. You just put a little on when your hair is wet and it makes it very combable. Even if you comb it and let it hang while it air dries, at least in my experience, your hair will dry straight with a nice flowy bounce and sheen to it (understand though that it won't be flat iron straight).

Okay, I've heard all the raves about this product, I've just been very skeptical to run out and get it because I heard it was kinda pricey. So is this the only product you use after washing? After it dries are you flat ironing your hair or just bunning?

Yah:yay: :yay: I'm glad it worked out for you. I love Giovanni Direct Leave In. The first time I used it I put too much on my hair also and it airdryed hard but then the next time I only put a little then applied my favoritest Serum(Fantasia Olive Serum) and my hair airdryed sooo soft. Ahemm...on the Giovanni Direct label. It says "a little goes a long way" BUT noooooo I didn't listen:lol:

 I know right. I'm always applying waaay too much thinking that the more the better. I guess not huh? It's like that saying "less is more". They ain't never lied. My new growth is still nice and soft (surprisingly). I'm getting my touch up today and I'm almost positive it won't be a tedious, and painful process since it's so soft.
Thanks again girlie!

I think I will also give this a try. Because the same thing happen to me with just using the Giovanni Direct.
