I first texlaxed my hair with ORS (10 mins total) and EVOO mixed in this past August. It came out great. I wanted to wear my hair straight without reversion and still be able to air dry my hair and wear it curly/wavy if I wanted to. But my new delimma was my gray hairs. I didn't want to add another chemical to the mix. My hair can't take color and relaxer so I discovered henna on LHCF.

Since I have been using the henna, it has naturally loosened my texlax and naturally texlaxed my new growth. (So much I thought my hair wasn't growing b/c I couldn't see new-growth) It also covers my grays fantastically! They are now auburn highlights. And my hair has a auburn tint to it with highlights. It looks really pretty in the sun.

Not only that, my hair seems fuller and stronger and really SHINY:yep:. I love it. I am very happy with the results and I wanted to pass it along to my LHCF sisters. If you don't want to loosen your natural curls don't use henna or coconut milk.:nono: But if you are in the 4s and you are stretching or if you are in the 3s and want a natural texlax, henna is the way to go! There is absolutely no reason for me to put another chemical in my hair ever again.

My henna recipe:

Karishma Henna (the best IMO)
Warm Coconut milk (instead of water)
Honey
Lemon Juice (teaspoon)
Semi Cheap Conditioner (I use Pantene Smooth & Shine)
No oil (I figured the cones in the Smooth & Shine would do the trick..and it did)
Don't ask me measurements...I just eyeballed it sorry.:look: I kept it at a pudding consistency.

Cool! I used to texlax with ORS until I transitioned. I use Henna maybe once every few months, but you're making me want to go use it again
Your hair looks GREAT!

do you always use the same mix?

This time I used the coconut milk and the Pantene Smooth conditioner instead of the EVOO. The very first time I just used water, cheap conditioner, EVOO and lemon juice. My hair was SUPER DRY but I didn't give up.:nono:

This time I used just a little lemon juice for color release and conditioner with cones instead of the oil. It helped the henna slip out.

The only con is my hair smells like a potted plant for a day or two after my henna treatments. I hate it. Not sure how to fix that.:nono:

Your hair looks very pretty. I love the color. Some people do experience a temporary loosening with henna. Is the loosening permanent?

I'm a henna virgin. I wear a rinse and would like to go a more healthy route to color my hair. My Natural Instinct color says not to use henna on my hair after using their product. I'm scared to try it. I want to get a great natural black color. I don't know what to do.:ohwell:

I've never heard that. I heard it doesn't take as well the first application if you have other chemical dyes in your hair but then the subsequent ones take fine after that. It's all natural so I don't see it being a problem but I'm not 100% sure.

I heard you have to wait 3 months of so after coloring if you want to henna. Also Amla helps counteract your hair loosening.

How long did it take you to notice the color in your hair and what color is your hair originally? How often do you henna?

I saw the color right away. My natural hair color is dark brown, but it was died medium brown when I first used the henna. I now henna once a week or sometimes every other week. It depends on how busy my week is.
