I first texlaxed my hair with ORS (10 mins total) and EVOO mixed in this past August. It came out great. I wanted to wear my hair straight without reversion and still be able to air dry my hair and wear it curly/wavy if I wanted to. But my new delimma was my gray hairs. I didn't want to add another chemical to the mix. My hair can't take color and relaxer so I discovered henna on LHCF.
Since I have been using the henna, it has naturally loosened my texlax and naturally texlaxed my new growth. (So much I thought my hair wasn't growing b/c I couldn't see new-growth) It also covers my grays fantastically! They are now auburn highlights. And my hair has a auburn tint to it with highlights. It looks really pretty in the sun.
Not only that, my hair seems fuller and stronger and really SHINY. I love it. I am very happy with the results and I wanted to pass it along to my LHCF sisters. If you don't want to loosen your natural curls don't use henna or coconut milk. But if you are in the 4s and you are stretching or if you are in the 3s and want a natural texlax, henna is the way to go! There is absolutely no reason for me to put another chemical in my hair ever again.
My henna recipe:
Karishma Henna (the best IMO)
Warm Coconut milk (instead of water)
Honey
Lemon Juice (teaspoon)
Semi Cheap Conditioner (I use Pantene Smooth & Shine)
No oil (I figured the cones in the Smooth & Shine would do the trick..and it did)
Don't ask me measurements...I just eyeballed it sorry. I kept it at a pudding consistency.
