Love yourself first!
OK, I know you're saying here we go again!! Who would like to join me in a 30 day oil challenge. This would be using castor, jojoba or olive oil. If there is another oil you would like to use, please feel free and share what it is. We can come up with concotions etc.... lets have fun with the oils and give these dry hair, split end blues a rest!

I am going to be using Jojoba and castor! I will also add some of these to the conditioners I will be using as well! Maybe they can carry some of the good stuff to my hair shaft! Not a scientist and not sure if it will work, but can't hurt to try!!

I will...once you tell me what you think the benefits will be...I'm not to keen on feeling greasy. :)

I'll join!

I have the following that I use:

Monoi
Sweet Almond
Wheat Germ
Jojoba
Coconut
Castor
Aloe Vera
Shea Butter
Avocado Butter

and a few eo's :)

I do a prepoo with the above (minus the butters), and I add them to conditioners.

What the hey...I have 30 days before I have to put my braids back in....I'm a joining!! I will be using olive oil on the scalp....olive/almond on the ends. Are we allowed to shampoo? How often....AND are we suppose to use oil everyday some type of way? LOL....just asking.

ETA: one benefit of oil is reduction of split ends....so I have heard. Since I have been using oil...I don't have as many splits (knots) as I did when I only conditioner washed without the oil.

Looks on Product shelf....welllll, I have some baby oil and some palmers cocoa butter oil. Can I use one of those.

*somewhat joking* LOL

Great!! I thought I would be in alone!!
Victoria1,Lboogie,Allaboutthehair, and angellazette Thanks for joining!

You can shampoo as often as you want. I am going to shampoo once a week and CW once a week. I will be applying oils to my hair on a daily basis until I can determine when I will start to look greasy. I think my hair loves oil and I need to focus on it more. I do know the jojoba is light and wont weigh the hair down. Right now my hair is soft and free flowing.

Lets just see what happens. Post results positive and negative...this will be a learning tool for us to keep the length and reach our goals!! So OIL it up ladies!!! :)

OK!! Can we get some more ladies in on this Challenge?!

Sherrylove, I would love to have your advice on this! I know you are the oil mixing queen! :)

We are trying to get where you are at! I just posted some pics using the oils the night before and took morning after pics! I love the way my feels and looks! :)

Hey MrsLee,

Funny you mentioned this, but I just replenished my oil stash yesterday! Count me in. I LOVE WGO, but for some reason, the smell of the last bottle I bought was really bad. I'm not giving it up, and I'll still use it on my scalp, but for everyday use on my hair, I'm going to use Olive and Jojoba.

I'm in! I use castor oil on a regular anyway. Am I to also oil my scalp with the oil or are we focusing on the hair?

Do you guys mean actual olive oil like extra virgin olive oil or the green olive oil you buy in the beauty supply stores? Cuz I just bought a bottle of cooking olive oil for some pasta, but I will SURELY start this challenge if I can use it on my hair as well!!!!
I also like B&B extra light super grow.

I got the BSS stuff Nesha, but I forgot I had the real thing in the pantry. I'll use that when I run out :)

Ok I'm exited now! Do you ladies oil your scalp as well as your hair and ends? What are the benefits of both?

I poured my oils in a old WGO bottle and I just take the tip of the bottle and run streaks of oil throughout my scalp. Then I take a couple of drops and run them through my ends. So far I do this day and night until I feel like I am starting to feel like a grease monkey. Since these oils arent that heavy, I hope this doesnt happen.

Count me in, too!! :) I already use oils almost on a daily basis, but on this challenge, I'll also add them to my conditioner!!

I have:

Hot Six Oil
Surge Oil
EVOO
Avocado Oil
Monoi Oil

Welcome Lindy and Unlvgirl! :) Since you are experts at oiling, please share what you do. THANKS!

Count me in also. I use WGO, shea butter oil, cocoa butter oil and Keracare essential oils. I use WGO sparingly on the scalp. I use a few drops of the other oils on the hair and ends. I started the beginning of January '05. So far so good, my breakage has stopped completely. I will continue with the challenge thru the end.

Unlivgirl: Please pm me your password. I looked at your site once and wanted to go back again. Beautiful hair. Such an inspiration of length. Thank you so much for doing this for me.
And I am in for the challenge. I just cannot leave oils alone! My hair thinks its in luv! (smile) Bonjour

So when does this "officially" begin?

I think I started last night, but I want to know if there is an "official" start and end date that we are all striving for.

Hey mrslee...

i really do enjoy mixing oils for the benefits of my hair ......some of you ladies may want to add a dollop of aloe vera gel to your oil mix...chicamorena put me on to this... and it seems to increase the moisturization effect of the oils...my hair stays moisturized longer.......
