2010 HYH Challenge Starting Pics

Here are my starting pictures. They were taken July 17th. My hair is now braided up for 6 more weeks. I will be using synthetic lacefront wigs and weaves as my protective styles to hide my hair the rest of this year.

it was taken a little while ago and where the garment rests is, i believe, WL on me.

(please feel free to correct me if i'm wrong about that.....i'm still learning where the different measurements are....amongst many things, lol!)

really wish i had something more recent, but my hair rarely gets loose these days!

i hmh with wet bagged buns almost exclusively.

I'm 13 months post. I'm trying to trim the relaxed ends every 2-3 months so I figured a texture shot would be the best way to measure growth.

Here are my starting pics from the beginning of July. First is a braidout. The other 2 are lightly flat ironed. My longest layer is about 1-1.5" from BSL in these pics, and my shortest is SL. I wish I had a pic that shows the back

The clip in the last pic indicates the line between relaxed/texlaxed hair. I have some breakage like that in the crown too, but it is nothing like this. I was crushed when I discovered this a couple months back! I'm transitioning w/o the BC and I never wear my hair completely down so I'm not in a hurry to even it up just yet. I want to see if the left side can regain/retain additional length before I cut the right side to match.

My starting pic

This is the results of a years worth of hiding my hair /healthy haircare plus stretching for 10 months. My horrible setback last year cost me about 5 inches of hair but im back on the grow. Im about bsl stretched cause I have a ton of shrinkage from being texlaxed plus im 6 weeks post and plan on stretching till the end of the year. As of now im back in large braids bunned, baggied, and juiced under my wig in my siggy pic below.

I finally used a flexible tape measure this month instead of the yellow metallic one I had previously been dancing an awkward tango with. It's helped me with measuring my progress bodywise, and helped me adjust my milestones. Irregardless, I still add .5-1" to each milestone so I can aim beyond and be happy with the progress

I took my yarn braids out on saturday and two strand twisted my hair under "Mina" by Outre. My nape is uneven...the 3 two strand twists make an inverted U...4.5" 4.25" 4.6" so instead of APL (7.5) I'm aiming for 8" as my APL...then ill even them out. Its probs from my micro fiasco. My crown is 5.75"...its never been slow to grow I believe I get an inch a month in that area consistently. I will continue to cut at each milestone until everything is even, then I shall let it grow as it wishes.

I haven't straightened since May, but my hair twisted and stretched is 1.5" from APL, so I am hoping to be there by Halloween.

Starting a day late, but my hair has been hidden for practically the entire summer under my afro-wig accomplice--Sasha.

I've been wearing my hair out since early/mid march-ish 2008. Last perm was in December 2006. Chopped off the perm every time I took out my Senegalese twists/ kinky twists during 2007.
