So I just got a call for an interview for this Fri and I'm super excited but now stressed because I'm 14 weeks post and my appt for my touchup is on Sat. I need some hairstyle ideas PLEASE!!

I'm not the best stylist, but if you have a nice wig that is similar to your hair, maybe that will work too.

If you can't change your appointment, don't worry!

Give yourself a moisturizing shampoo and 30 minute deep condition. Airdry for a while then put in 4 big braids. Put a roller on the ends. Next morning, lighty fluff your hair and wear it out or clip up with some nice hair jewelry.

Around here the Dominicans will not touch your hair if you're that many weeks post without getting a relaxer.

They're not going to judge you on your new growth (we hope). Brush your hair back and wear a bun. Hair not long enough for a bun? Then use a neutral toned headband. Good luck with the interview.

I agree with a bun if your hair is long enough. I've just gone on two interviews (14 months post) and I wore a nice sleek bun. If your hair isnt long enough to bun but long enough to pony, you can buy a phony bun or get some yaki braiding hair and wrap it around to make a bun.

So I'm thinking about flat ironing around the edges and wearing it in a bun. This is totally breaking my no heat rule and I hope this doesn't have any strange effects when I get touched up on Sat.

WOW 14 months post, here I am complaining about 14 weeks! How did you get your bun to be sleek?

MMM......I used gel.....brown gel.....yes AMRPO brown gel....and I don't care what the hair police thinks!



But seriously, yeah I used brown gel. I can get my hair straight usually with conditioner and the scarf method but the gel ensures that my hair stays sleek and I dont have to worry about it frizzing during the interview. I sprtiz with water and add my shea butter mix on my hair first so the gel won't dry hard.

Don't have to break your no heat rule, just moisturize, brush your hair back do the scarf method real tight and wear a bun for the interview

I love ORS edge control. but only use a little because your hair can end up look white or ashy from the paste. I usually use mine with a little oil.

I'm 15 weeks post and I can get a very sleek bun with moisturiser, my scarf and some finishing creme/serum for shine. It can be done.

not sure if this is an option, but when i had to do something last minute or didn't feel like waiting 2 hours to get my hair done, i would go to the hair cuttery. the one i went used the mizani therosmooth collection, and it was only $35 for wash/blowdry/flat iron, even for transitioning hair. they did make it a point to remind me that once i was fully natural, there was a $10 charge. i got the idea after reading a few posts on here. hope this helps.

So I flat ironed my edges and small section around my part for a sleek look for the bun (still mad I had broke my no heat rule) and it came out pretty good. I have the ORS edge control but I find that it leaves a slightly white residue.
