$100 Weave VS. $500 weave??

I am planning on getting my hair done. My hair has suffered from months of not taking care of it. So im planning a weave to hide my hair while it grows out.

The typical salon charges in the range of $100-200

But this other salon charges $500+, but my service would not exceed $550. The people will the $500 tag are very professional they have been featured in Essense and is located in an upscale location in Boston. I am thinking if the services are different besides the price. Will my hair florish more or will my results be the same.

I am on the fence and im tired of non-professionals ruining my hair.

So, ultimately is there an actual difference

I mean what are they offering with the weave? Is it just for the weave hair, the weave and the install? Are they offering maintenance on the weave too (come in every few weeks and they check it, wash, style)?

I guess it depends. Sometimes for high quality you have to come out of pocket. But sometimes you can get the same quality at a low price. If you can afford it and they are professional and you like what they do there...go for it.

Some people are paying 1,000 for busted lace fronts! So this is not out of range! I have seen some people bay 700-800 for weave and it looked like it was growing out their scalps!

I don't think just because it cost more that it will necessarily be better. I've had a weave done at someone's house for $60 that ran circles around the $120 weave I got done at the salon. :perplexed

I wouldn't go to the other salon just because it's cheaper either. If they are unprofessional, then I would continue to look around for someone who is professional and charges about the same price.

Maybe I'm cheap, but I just can't pay $500 for a sew-in. :nono:

Agree.
My stylist was cheaper than others in the city, but the results were ALWAYS excelent (to me, my mom, and my sister). So, just evaluate the quality on both (not if they are famous or not, that's irrelevant), because is like trow 300 bucks if the high price one offers the same as the other place.

I would probably compare the two of them. I mean whats the purpose of you dishin out 500.00 for the same weave that you can get for 100 to 200. Are they offering hair with the services.(and sometimes im weary of that because how do i know that you are using top quality indian hair on my head and im not seeing the vendor).

I have dished out alot on weaves also and going with people just because I believe that they can do a better job then the next person and it never comes to be true and the weave looks to be the same.

If I were you, I would not get the weave. Putting a weave on hair you already think is damaged will just increase the damage, IMHO. I'd invest some of my $500 in some decent products and tools, then get to work on what you already have. You're hair is probably not as damaged as you think it is.

You said you neglected your hair....I've done this myself and it's easy to come back from. Adding a weave can make the problem infinitely worse IF you have a tedency towards neglect. The hair underneath needs to be properly cared for on the regular or it can dred up or weaken on you.

I know a woman who pays good money for a weave around $500.00 or more and it looks like a weave, it is just very flat with no bumps. But I have seen weaves on this website that cost way less and looks natural, not like a weave. So make sure you look at examples of the persons work before you pay any money out for a weave.

I agree, do not put a weave on top of damaged hair.

And if you do get a weave once your hair has recovered, $500 is high. I paid $200 for weaves at my salon in NYC for years and $500 for fusion aka strand by strand, plus the cost of the hair. Only a few people, that knew me for years or that I told, knew that my hair was weave.

Most shops in this area charge $150 - $200 for weaves. If the hair is included (human hair) then $500 is not horrible but it is still high for a sew in weave.

:yep: I used to get weaves for 500 and up-the most I paid was about 900...

I dont consider myself a cheap at all but 500$ is way too much for a sew in. I understand the thing about paying for what you get yata yata yata. The whole art of a sew in is not rocket science and i wouldnt dare pay anybody that much to do a job that not that difficult

The price isn't neccessarily an indicator of the person's skill level. :look: I would ask for pictures of their work or go see for yourself before you decide.

wow im so lucky my mom does my sew-ins. i never aid more than 70 for any hair style.

my best friend does hair
my other best friend as well
and my mom. not professionally but hey it looks nice nd its free! but honestly i say 500 is a little high!

I'd suggest not adding weave to already damaged hair. That will more than likely damage and cause more stress to your hair. I'd suggest getting your hair in a healthy condition before weaving it up.
