Correction it's actually been 13 months--I didn't want to end my stretch early.
I started the hair journey not completely believing my hair would ever see apl let alone bsl but now I am truely a believer. At the end of this stretch my hair was the longest it has ever been...apl but cut it off. I have only S&D this past year so I prob cut about 1 1/2 to 1 try to even it out and 2 get rid of some of the overprocessed ends. I am not only confident that I'll be back to apl in no time but I now have my own personal challenge to make it to bsl (or very close) for Sept 2010--b/c I will be getting married then. Once again thanks to all of your ladies for your knowledge now enough rambling on :spinning::spinning:
My comparison pics are in my signature and of course there are more in my fotki!

Great progress, Tayflea! Your hair looks nice and healthy. Isn't it great to know you were able to achieve the unachievable? Thanks for sharing.

Where are you in Texas, may I ask? Houston, maybe?

:clapping: you’ve done a great job, your hair looks beautiful and I’m sure you will make both your goals! Congratulations on your forthcoming nuptials :dance7:.

i swear to you, get a weave and you'll be back there in no time.

i know i know, im a weave pusher now, but hey, it works

Congrats! You now KNOW FOR A FACT that your hair can reach APL, so I'm sure it will grow back again and you'll be BSL before you know it.

Thank you ladies for all of your encouraging comments!!

Tayflea, how did you know your ends were overprocessed? How does it look? Feel? I've always wanted to know this.

Well I started stretching and texlaxing my hair when I decided to start. My hair before was likely overprocessed primarily from overlapping b/c of my sensitive scalp I could never let a perm stay on long. So once I began stretching and texlaxing I noticed that the ends were alot thinner and I imagine weaker than the texlaxed hair.

Congrats on your progress. You have really pretty hair.
Thank You : )

I think I went through the same thing. I started texlaxing and stretching last summer and as my hair started to grow I noticed a huge difference in my texlaxed hair vs. the rest of my hair. The ends of my hair were much thinner and looked so unhealthy compared to the texlaxed hair.

I'm a cutter so I would trim about 1/2 inch every month or so. Essentially cutting all my progress. I would probably be shoulder length by now if I didn't cut.

Sorry for the hijack.

your hair looks great! and congrats on your engagement :) i really want to be apl or longer when i tie the knot
