In your position, I would wear braids until the hair was long enough for a bun. That way you could forego daily styling.

This is a nice pic! Your hair looks really healthy and shiny! I like the little curls! Way to go! /images/graemlins/clap.gif

Feel better, SpicedTee! Your hair is shorter because you cut the color out, but you should retain length better without it. Don't stop Surging or taking supplements.

You are right. I did cut the color out, I was just so disappointed that I was still getting crazy breakage. Braids are an excellent idea. I need to check out the crown and glory technique.

Okay Ladies....I am a good student because I am listening very closely. Last night I done a conditioner only wash, then deep conditioned with Olive Oil. I then roller set on small magnetic rollers and let dry over night. So today I feel sooooo much better. I gave away my ceramic flat iron too. I am heading out to Home Depot to at least get a shower filter until I can shop around for the whole house water softener. That way I can start to benefit right away. I am heading out to find coconut oil, a moisturizing conditioner, a milder shampoo, and some cute little hair accessories. Thank God, I feel like there is some light at the end of this tunnel and it's not an oncoming train! Here is the pic I took this morning of the roller set.

good work!

Sorry to hear about your hair loss. My advice to you would be to try the baggy method, it is a great way to keep your ends moisturized. Also wearing your hair is braids, or cornrows may help to combat the breakage.

I hope this helps

You could also get an instant weave and baggie your hair underneath it maybe. So you save your hairline from the braids and from future cornrows...

Your hair looks great! If you have a one of those bonnets with the mesh inside you can rock that style for at least 3 or 4 days.

spicedtee, sorry that you're having problems with breakage, but i gotta say your hair looks really cute in the latest pic! it's great that you found a cute, no heat style that you can rock on the regular.

i got to this thread late, but i see that you're heeding all the great advice that's been given. i also would stop washing twice a week (too much manipulation). i'd do conditioner washes some of the time. i'd find a good moisturizer that your hair likes. i recommend Elasta QP Recovery. last, i think you should give the braids or cornrows another try. i know you said you had a disaster with the cornrows, but it was really with the braider, right? there are others out there!

good luck! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I moved to a much drier climate last year from the south and my first winter here tore up my hair and skin, then I started taking a tablespoon of flaxseed oil daily( I usually whip it up in my protien shakes or mix it in with my veggies right before I eat them). In addition to the external things, give this a try. It is wonderful for an internal fix along with vitamins and drinking more water and eating well. Hope you get your hair where you want it to be soon!
