I started watching this earlier, I've not finished but it's interesting.

I’m with @Napp. Unless she’s been back to hair school, or taken a myriad of intensive courses, I’d be hard pressed to listen to anything Cyn Doll has to say about hair. Her track record has shown that she is seriously lacking in skill and knowledge.

Didn't know this. Thank you. I trust what you and @Napp say to look out. I have seen her around but I never delved deeply into her information.

I'll admit I've gotten lazy but I'll try to post pics weekly as I go though this curly hair journey. I haven't used Heat in almost 6 months and i do not miss it! I still do diffuse on low with my airlight pro dryer

Here is this week's wash n go. Everything all new to me.

Loreal surprised me. They may become staples. Idk how I feel about the doux I have too much volume for this to last all week. But hey, I may be surprised so let's see. Just out of first impressions, i prefer miche gel.

Well thanks for the heads up. TBH, I think it was the concept of what she started saying that intrigued me. I would have had to listen to the whole clip, then research the points for myself. It's funny that I've not come across her before. The algorithms are throwing up a lot of random people in my feeds lately.

I don't miss heat when I'm not using it either, I'm literally trying out my Airlight Pro this week, and then starting my WAG season probably for next week as the weather is set to improve somewhat.

Always so defined and shiny ❤️

I used to love their old conditioner in the black bottle with the hot pink accents. It was called triple resist. Smelt amazing, crazy slip and my hair felt moisturised and strong when I used it. They discontinued it but I have about 2 - 3 large bottles still.

I feel like the current Elvive range you are using has come up somewhere recently as one of the worst brands. I would have saved that somewhere so I'll have a look and post it when I find it.

I would consider the Doux Big Poppa and Crazy Sexy Curl as staples for now, I really want to try the Bee Girl gel and there's an anti humidity gel they have I want to try too. I also want to get their press play system too. I really like their products.

Miche didn't work for me the way I had hoped, I tried less product more water, my hair didn't stay defined.

I love the Miche moisture and moisture protein balance conditioners, they are firm contenders for staples, especially as the moisture conditioner is protein free too.

I haven't been able to find the exact video I was looking for yet, but this came up while I was trying to find it. I will keep looking, I may not have saved it after all, probably because non of the brands listed were products I use. I'll keep looking though

ETA: I have seen posts and videos of reported excess shedding caused by the shampoo and conditioner whilst looking for the video. It doesn't seem to be affecting you in this way, I'm also seeing lots of reviews in favour of them too.

That video is a joke lol playing on what people think is bad in product formulations lol I should have been a chemist

Aqua was water last time I checked  but there were other ingredients mentioned in the video I was referring to, I will have to check my history.

That was a terrible example  Personally I think that there will always be people who are negatively affected by certain formulations. This is not different from Mielle rosemary line or the Color Wow dream coat, people claim they're the greatest thing ever and others are reporting major hair loss. Not every product is for everybody.

This was the one I was referring to:

It's UK based, what's strange is the Suave, I can't say I've ever seen that available anywhere over here before.

I think it just depends on the person. Sarenzo products broke me out but olay”s premium lotion is one of the few products that doesn’t

Precisely. I never had any issues with Elvive personally,, although the triple resist con is the only product of theirs I've used. I'm a firm believer of doing and using what works for us. I avoid cones, but there are a few conditioners that work well for me that contains them, I will continue to use them.

I straightened my hair to give it a trim and gave myself a deep trim focusing on the inner layers. The middle of my hair continues to break because it is a different texture. I put in a botox treatment with heat and I can immediately see how dry my hair was. The botox made my hair feel like silk and smoothed the kinky parts of my hair that are in the middle of my head.

I am going to exclusively wash and go for the rest of the year like i used to do when I was in college. My hair was so full and long back then. I cowashed every few days with cheap conditioner and left the conditioner in. Now ill just put a little curl activator for some extra hold. I think I've complicated things over the years i think a simple affordable regimen is best for me.

Also i think waiting a week to wash and go again is too long and it always looks bad because i cannot find anything that gives me 7 day hair without flaking especially around the hairline. Id rather just rewash my hair at this point. i think trying to stretch the wash n go was making my hair get too dry

Is hair botox like the keratin treatments? Does it change your curl pattern? I've heard it mentioned before but I've never looked into it.

I'm so glad I've simplified my regimen, the 101 wash day steps and midweek stuff was a lot, and also unnecessary. Having a simpler regimen has made me start enjoying wash days again and makes it easier for me to complete a wash day when I cannot be bothered.

I think I had the best results with the Big Poppa gel over Crazy Sexy Curl. I used S Curl as a leave in, the results were magic. Shiny, silky and soft, I literally couldn't keep my hands out my hair.

Your WAGs always look gorgeous and defined, but if you're getting flakes and losing the definition, it's worth having a midweek reset.

I want to get back into mid week cowashing, especially now the weather is heating up. I'm wanting to get back into my wash and goes, but I'm still playing around with my heat tools. I guess I can chop and change until the next event I'm going to where I'm going to attempt another silk press.

Ideally I want to do my hair once a week, with minimal intervention through the week, that doesn't always happen but I'm working on it and making progress.

Keratin treatments are more permanent than a botox. Botox may slightly loosen curl patterns but after time passes the hair reverts back to normal or close to normal. My hair looks natural just shinier and frizz free.

I’m washing my hair more often and notice I barely loose any hair in the process, especially if I only use my fingers. Looking for wash and go styles I can do at night or quickly in the morning. So far my go to is a southern tease bun clipped with a claw clip

This sounds like what I'm looking for, thank you. How often do you apply the BTX, does it last a long time for you?

The bolded is a slight concern, but I will definitely look further into this as a potential option. I'm guessing the BTX Mirror is the one that gives the shine?

Yes I say close to normal because I noticed that some formulations will kill your frizz but that’s the puffiness goes away as well. So styles that rely on the puffiness of the hair like twists will look boneless. Not all formulations have this effect but there is not much black women doing this kind of service any way.

Also if you look at salon centric reviews for the Amika brand pro treatment the results were very mixed.

I am still new to the brand and experimenting but so far it’s the best I’ve tried in a while. I want to see what a cold application does because it’s the reason I chose this line.

I have been cold treating my hair with other brands for about 6 months and my hair is thicker and has the puffiness back but it is still controlled.if you do a cold treatment it will revert all the way back

This is good to know and something I can look out for when researching, thank you.

Yes, I've seen this come up in my initial dive into the product, I haven't looked deeper into the reviews yet, and there's not many video reviews at all, most of which are not with afro textured hair.

I'm looking forward to following this chapter of your journey, I hope it continues to perform the same way for you too.

Some more great information. Does this mean that hair botox is usually applied or activated with a heat process?

You can kind of control how much effect you want.
A cold application means that not heat tools are used but personally I also use an ultrasonic infrared iron to boost results. With a hot application where the product is washed off your hair and blow dry and flat iron unlike a keratin where the product is literally baked with a flat iron in your hair. The results are a little more pronounced this way. If you leave a little in after washing and before drying and flat ironing the result is even stronger

I'm definitely going to look into all this, it definitely sounds like something I'd be interested to try. I want something to minimize or preferably eradicate frizz, without compromising my curl pattern, this is looking like the solution.

Today is wash day and my hair came out so beautiful. Exactly how I want it to look. I'm pleased. I did a quick no heat botox with kachita spell and it made my hair so silky in minutes. I used mixed chicks leave in, doux block party dj quick and miche anti humidity gel. Will post pictures when roots finally dry

1st day hair. Super glossy hair and no frizz

No flash. Can you see how shiny my hair is? I never seen it this shiny for a long time

2nd day hair. Curls stayed intact after sleeping with no flakes yet.

Phew! Life is very busy right now!

I wore my hair straight for several weeks but never took a pic. Lol. I really needed a break with all the caretaking at home, new and old work tasks, etc. Straight hair gives me that break.

For the past two weeks I've been wearing a slick-back low ponytail.

OMG, why didn't I think of this before?!?? Five-head and all, I'm looooooving it. So easy. (I'm considering my five-head as a sign of regalness. Lol!!!)

The first time I concerned myself with getting it really slick, used lots of product, blow dried it, tied it down with a scarf . . . yadda yadda. That produced shiny waves.

Below I didn't do all that. Lol. So please don't judge the products by the photos below.

The Doux for the win!

Have a beautiful day, all!

So last week I did my first WAG of the year, I really couldn't hold out any longer, it's getting hot over here, although this week has been abysmal lol.

Day 1 in the white top, day 2 is in the lilac/mint top. It held out great for the week but started looking a bit frizzy by the end of the week. I used the Miche gel, although I want to use it up, I wasn't supposed to do that. I think on one hand I was wanting to try tbe Miche in the shower too, but my perfect WAG combo does not need Miche anti humidity gel, I also forgot to use my creamy leave in too lol. I did add a bit of water and leave in on day 2 tbough.

I did a quick cowash yesterday, and applied the correct products in the correct order but I through it back into a low ponytail as I had to attend a funeral and it was raining quite heavily all day.

Wash day is Sunday, I will be completing my WAG on a clean head and I'm expecting good results, lets see how it goes. Lol

At this point other than the Garnier Method for curls, the Sof n Free curl range it's only The Doux gels I want to try. I already have the sof n free set, I'm not overly bothered by the Garnier Method, I have the extreme wetline, which I haven't tried yet and the VO5 Curl Gel which I liked a lot. I will purchase the Doux products ( there's a good few lol), and work out the staples from there. Crazy Sexy Curl is definitely my staple foam, Big Poppa is definitely a staple too for now unless I prefer another one, or might choose more than one as a staple.
