So I have henna many times in the past and I usully do so overnight with powders mixed in a 1 to 1 ratio with Aphogee 2 step and a alot to conditioner. When yesterday I henna in a 3 to 1 ish (henna to powder) ratio and my hair came out horrid. My 3c waves are now STRAIGHT!
Worse I think this is going to be permanent. And its never happened before!

Can one year of growth really be ruined? If so that may be the straw that relaxes the camel's back. I only added more henna because my hair has gotten longer and I have been running out before I got most of my hair covered. Some one please tell me there is hope. Anyone?

Pictures would help. Like before and after shots.

I would recommend the straight amla paste recipe into your hair, that might helpbring back those curls. Usually amla powder really helps maintain curls. Henna can really loosen curls for some.

What kind of henna brand do you use?

Maybe this will wear off after a couple of washes. I know when I did my henna and Indigo my texture was a tad bit looser. But after like a week or two it was back to normal (up to ear shrinkage).

:) Just wish I could find that thread on the amla paste/powder being used straight. Do you remember it or where it was? I remember reading someone on this forum doing that as a straight recipe for their curls, and was just really enjoying it.

just took picture no tension on the strands. It looks kinky straight all over. Urg. I don't have any before shots so you have to believe mean I say I had half cm S shaped loops.

I use Jamilla BAQ henna. I"ll wash again tonight after my workout and use my powder mix (its Alma, Maka, Bramhi, and Shikakia in a 4 to 4 to 2 to 1) I don't have any amla by its self (urg).

Ya definitely keep us posted after you wash! I hope you get your curls back.

Going to mix my powders with warm water and apply as a past for 30 minutes then rinse. And Co-wash. And cross my fingers.

So I ended up oiling with amla and shikakai oil then apply in the powder paste. Let it sit for 30 minutes. Shampoo'd with hairveda amla shamoo (the oil had a residue feeling). And DC'd with dry remedy. My curls wouldn't clump so I then used assuie moist. Most of my hair waved up after this. There are a few parts the aren't behaving but I'm going to repeat this in the middle of the week and see if it improves.

You don't have to give up henna per se but adding amla in it and tweaking your ratio may be the next step. Hope your hair recovers. It's looking good already.
