Hey all you beautiful people,:dance7:

I've finally stopped being a cheapskate and subscribed to LHCF after nearly 2 months of getting hair tips off this website. Be gentle with me lol.
I'm from London so if there are any Londoners on here who can give me tips about where to get products etc, I'd like to hear from you.
I'll put a picture up when I upload them on my laptop.
And when I finish drying my hair (I'm under the dryer as I type), I'll stalk people.... Erm, I meant explore this website a bit more.

Take Care,

XxX

I'm from london too. The tips are the same but you may have trouble finding some of the brands as the americans like Giovanni, or you'd have to order them from the internet but that's about it welcome. If anything else pm me.

Thanks for the info. I forgot to ask, how do you determine your hair type? I've read many posts explaining it but I still don't get it. Is it based on the texture of your hair (softness) or the curl pattern? I don't know if I'm a 3 or a 4 something. Sorry if I sound dumb but it's confusing. :wallbash:

Welcome! I'm tall too, so I know what you mean about APL. It seems a mile away from SL!

I know, tell me about it. If I were shorter, I would have passed APL by now, I've looked at the length of my hair and it's quite long but in comparison with my body, it doesn't seem that long!

hi ladies!
i'm a newbie, too...in fact so new i still haven't figured out how to get my picture uploaded...i've tried dozens and it always comes back "invalid file"...:wallbash: (any helpful ideas..???)

anyhooo, i live in milan, though i'm american and order from pakcosmetics.com.
couldn't believe how fast my order got to italy...just a couple of days!

i'm also tall, so i really understand how hard it is to get a hair length that seems to balance well with my body length!

i'm at the shoulder length now, but am aiming for bsl....

best to you ladies!

Hey sweetie, I'm a newbie too. Also from london n 5ft8 so I get wat u mean about noticing hair length. The best place is paks cosmetics in finsbury park, or their website.. u cn get joico, keracare, elasta QP etc.
Take care n enjoy!x

I live in North West London so there are A LOT of BSS but some of them just don't have the products that I'm after. Normally I go to Juliet's but on Tuesday I went to Paks Cosmetics in Harlesden and I hated the experience. Since taking care of my hair, I look at the ingredients of the produdcts I'm buying and when I went to Paks, they watched me like a hawk (they must have thought I was a thief). I was there for a good while because the shop is massive and whenever I went to a new aisle, the man just happened to be 'tidying up' there.

Oh gosh I know wat u mean about their watchful eyes..bt u gt the upperhand wen u stand at the till with all ur goods and a big smile on ur face.
Paks in finsbury is the biggest n has a bigger selection then any other black hairshops. One tip is to research wat products u want n their ingredients online so then you have a list to take with u. I kno sometimes u change ur mind bt it makes the process soo much easier, n engage with the sales assistants ask questions, locations of products etc n that changes their perception of u.

Hi!

I'm a tall (5'10") newbie too! My main goal right now is thickness, but I'm also trying to win a personal challenge of not cutting my hair (other than trimmming as neccessary) for a year.

Stay encouraged in your journey! It seems like for some tall women, bsl, mbl, and wl are all right around the same area, so once you get over that (seemingly unsurmountable) hump of apl, you'll be checking off goal lengths left and right!

Welcome fellow Londoner! Good to have you, products like giovanni can be found in wholefoods in high street ken. Some of the aubrey organics was in selfridges last time I checked.
With paks don't take it personal they do to everybody, I think taking a list is a good idea as it focuses you when you get in there.
Def recommend you check finsbury park as like an earlier poster said they have more of the salon based products such as joico and mizani etc.

Hi Ladies! i'm kind of a newbie too...well more of a long time silent lurker but hey i'm from i'm in London too (west london) so thought i'd holla! didn't know there were this many of us here x

Hi Ladies, I'm a pretty much a newbie also. Like GarbielleA I've been getting tips from the website for years, but finally paid and joined because I finally got the nerve to see this thing through.

I promised myself I'd go natural before, but then I'd get worried about what the "others" would think about my kinky doo. Well I'm in business for myself now and let me tell you I don't care. It's actually very empowering to embrace the hair of the "ancients" LOL.

I've been fully transitioning since my last touch up (wave nouveau) in April which practically ruined my thick hair. My scalp and my hair line which used to peel after processing thanks me.

I've found all the ladies on here so inspiring and supportive. So I hope to get to know you guys better in 2010.

Yeah, there are quite a few Londoners here. I know this is off topic but what parts of London are you guys from?

:welcome2:

When it comes to your hair, do what YOU want to do. Without fear of what people will think. I was natural for the first 21 years of my life but I decided to relax it in April 2009 because I just wanted a change.
When I had natural hair, a lot of people would compliment me because of the thickness, length and texture but some people always had an opinion because I was an adult with natural hair. And when I relaxed my hair I got a lot of compliments but again, some people were annoyed that I'm not natural anymore. So no matter what you do, there's always going to be someone who's not happy with you so when it comes to critics, I couldn't care less.

Just enjoy your hair.
