uggghhh..got this stuff by mistake!:wallbash:

I meant to get the conditioner...I was tired of hearing you ladies brag on how wonderful it was so I ended up going out to get me some..but instead I grabbed the shampoo:sad: I always do this mess.. Just like the day before when I grabbed nonsweet tea instead of sweet tea..:rolleyes:

So do you ladies have any bragging to do on the shampoo?

I need to feel better about waisting money on more shampoo that i dont need.. I know it was only 3 bucks and some change but every penny counts these days..lol

Guess tomorrow I will go back for the conditioner..this time I will try not to grab the hairspray...
 
Those are my favorite cheapie products, I have shampoo and condish, plus some of their miracle treatment in my bathroom on standby in the event I run out of my Aphogee stash.

I used to use it almost exclusively prior to starting my hair journey.
 
I just did the same exact thing the other day. I am definitely going to take it back though :look: I started to keep it but I hate the way the shampoo made my hair feel.

Try a little bit of it first to see how it works on your hair. Initially, I decided to keep it because I figured since the condish was ultra moisturizing, the shampoo wouldn't be too far off. I was wrong. It made my hair feel like straw and it tangled up horribly.

darn.. i may as well keep it.. it came with a little bottle of hairspray they were wrapped up together. I already took them apart and threw the paper away. I wonder if they will still let me exchange it. I dont think they could resale it..

Sulfates are cheap detergents present in most commercial shampoos, they can dry out our hair and make it more prone to damage, so we tend to go for more natural more moisturizing sulfate free shampoos like ElastaQP, NourishSpa, Dr Bronners Castile Soap etc.

You can determine if a product contains sulfates by reading the ingredients on the back label of it two of the most popular kinds are Sodium Laurel Sulfate and Ammonium Laurel Sulfate but if there is any variation of that (meaning something that sounds like it like sulffonicate or something, its usually the same thing masked to seem like it isnt there)

Alot of brands try to fool an unwitting customer like Loreal EverPure they actually had the audacity to advertise that their shampoos were sulfate free when you can see on the back label that they contain sulfates in the first two ingredients as clear as day. Keep an eye out for that, it can really make a huge difference in your hair and its strength:yep:

There are exceptions to every rule, if you have a shampoo thats working great for you and you're consistently retaining length with it then don't fix what aint broke.

I actually loved Pantene Pro-V Relaxed and Natural shampoo which has sulfates, made my hair feel amazing, but I wanted to play it safe and keep my hair as moisturized as possible so I made the switch to sulfate free:yep: I feel my hair is healthier for it.....its a judgement call.

Yea good move, use up whatcha have before you worry about getting another hun....but when you do restock its an amazing detangler, smells delicious and leaves coils soft and manageable, it can be used as a leave-in too:yep:

That's kind of hard. I'm a big advocate for people listening to their hair and not getting caught up in LHCF doctrine. If sulfates work for you, then I don't see the harm in using them. It's like cones...mad people hate cones, but my hair loves them. You gotta just do your own thing, ya know?

But at the same time, trying sulfate free for a while might not be such a bad idea. I was definitely a big sulfate user, up until November, when I went sulfate free. And even though sulfates were fine, no sulfates were better. My hair was moister and I didn't need to oil my scalp as often.

After two months of only using Organix shampoos (sulfate free line), I recently tried one of my old favorites (Motions Lavish Conditioning Shampoo), and it tore my head up. My hair was okay, but my scalp...:nono: Itchies, redness, irritation...all kinds of mess. I washed today with Organix, and the irritation cleared right up.
So yeah, I'm done with sulfates, except for my clarifying shampoo.

I don't want to make you into a PJ, but I do recommend at least trying sulfate free for a little bit. If you don't notice any improvement in your hair and/or scalp, then just keep using your sulfate shampoo.

And about the shampoo...I don't have any advice, I've never tried it. But I just wanted to let you know that I feel your pain. I definitely did that with HE LTR shampoo, and I lost the receipt too, so I couldn't return it. Now I use it to wash my combs and brushes, and it works well for that.

Organix is not a sulfate free shampoo hun, if you look on the back label of ingredients the second ingredient listed is disodium laureth sulfocinnate which is a surfactant. So on a technicality, they can advertise that they're sulfate free but they still sneaked cheap detergents in in the form of surfactants.

That being said, I'm glad you've found something thats working for you, we all just have to listen to our own hair I loved Pantene Pro-V relaxed and Natural and that has sulfates AND petrolatum in it lol.

SLS and ALS do have drying properties so you should always be sure to condition your hair well. If you decide to try a little of the AM poo and it's not for you, take it back ASAP but if it (or your other poos) work(s), keep it. Never toss your products because someone told you to do so just because it didn't work for their hair. Experiment!

With that said, some sulfate poos will tangle and dry out my hair something terrible and some are pretty good.
