Ok I will be 7 weeks post this thursday and although my new growth is soft, pulling it in a pony tail or a bun is out of the question. I'm either going to have to get a wig, give up and relax or try the 2 strand twist. I just dont want extensions and would like to know if any relaxed heads have had them successfully? And what products did you use to do them to make them hold?

Are you talking about the flat twists? If so, I'm relaxed and have had them for my twist outs as well as just to wear them. I usually just put some lotta body on or QP Elasta foam or whatever i have lying around. I'll try to find a picture

I tried the two-strand twist, but i couldn't keep them from unraveling without wrapping them around a roller. The result:

I am doing those ( flat twist) right now cause I am about 4mos post and wont be getting my sew in for another week. Anyway, I use some of my conditioner as a leave in and then coconut oil to seal. If I get to a setion of hair I just spray some distilled water on that section. I love how my hair come out so soft and shiney.

Oh sorry I dont have any pics. Me and the camera are not friends right now.

3 more days and I will be six months post, so I have a lot of new growth. When I do two strand twists, I braid the roots (for what I hope are obvious reasons:spinning::spinning:), twist the length and then roll the ends on a small perm rod. HTH

The lotta body doesn't cause dryness? And are your ends protected this way? This is my concern. And what are flat twist?

I use either conditioner or moisturizer, and a squirt of Dove Mousse or setting foam (Nairobi or Silk Elements) before flat twisting. At the end, I just use bobby pins to keep the ends from unraveling.
