Maxiglide with Teeth Or no Teeth???

The teeth are better...Its basically the comb chase method on the flat iron but better.

I have natural hair and I have the Sedu and Maxiglide. The sedu worked great on the length of my hair but would never get the ends straight even with the comb chase method. The Maxiglide make MY hair extra soft.. swing.. and keeps my ends straight till next wash..

Make sure your hair has been blow dryed straight and each piece is tangle free before flat ironing.

Watch the video first.. it explains everything.

I use mine with teeth on my own hair (I'm nearly 5 months post relaxer), and on my younger sister's beyond thick 4a/4b hair. Works wonders, and there's no need to chase the iron with a fine toothed comb like normal. It catches the roots well, and makes ironing a breeze.
HTH!

I stopped using the teeth, but I'm not a fan of really bone straight hair. I use the chase method still so I can control how much hair is "pulled". I shed a lot and still haven't gotten to the root of my breakage, so I try to minimize combing, pulling, and heat exposure. BUT THE TEETH DID GET MY HAIR STRAIGHTER WHEN I USED THEM.

I'm texlaxed but dont use the teeth or steam, just the regular plates on the roots only after a rollerset. I get better results this way as the steam makes it frizzy and the teeth tend to pull out unnecessary hair and make it too straight...

Yep with teeth :yep:
Beautiful bone straight hair without the hassle of using a flat iron and comb to chase. Just make sure you use tiny sections to avoid pulling.

I prefer no teeth. I still get sleek results...I am about post pics in a new thread.

:drunk:ok i thought about it. i mentioned on another thread that i never get a comb through my hair, i NEVER have...not once. soo i think i should get the maxiglide without teeth. i just know those little teeth are going to be pulling and snagging my strands:nono:. i could try to use it with very small sections but i dont want to be straigtening my hair for 4-5 hours doing little section by little section, :rolleyes:just thinking.

They don't come with both plates anymore? Pretty sure they do. Just switch them to whatever you want, teeth or no-teeth.

:yep:

Whoops - almost forgot to say that I use the teeth. Very small and thinnish sections and it takes about 1-1.5 hours if the hair's already dried.

:yep: And if you do small sections (detangled) and go slowly without clamping it down on your hair you won't lose much at all. When I started losing strands it was because I fell into the old "flat iron" mentality and the maxiglide is different due to the fact that you don't close it all the way.

When you get it they're gonna give you both plates so you can swap them out as you please:yep:

The key is having fully detangled hair to start off with. I feel if you do a thorough blowdry that gets your hair mostly straight and you flat iron your hair in small sections you wont run into this issue at all.

We have very similar texture and even when doing it with small sections it takes me about an hour to flat iron so its not hours and hours at all.

As a matter of fact straightening is one of the fastest styles I do.

Do you have a quality blowdryer at the moment?

Hey hun! Its great that you usually avoid heat:yep: If you want to go that route you can try air-drying in tight medium sized braids, I've found this to really get my type 4 hair smooth and stretched nicely...that way your hair will be much easier to manage during the process:yep:

Small sections are definitely key.

thank you blackmasterpiece, your advice is so helpful. i will try the braids and let you know how it turns out. and im going to the beauty supply to hunt for that maxiglide (without teeth)lol. im going to straighten than post some pics.

I only used it once with the teeth and I didn't like it.:nono: It pulled too much of my hair out. And yes, my hair was fully detangled and no I wasn't pressing the plates together. This wasn't the flat iron for me.
