I've seen some beautiful wet and dry pics of texturizers and and texlaxed alike, but I have no idea of maintenance and styling. Do you wrap and braid the hair at night with a texturizer, or just leave it be? is styling just a matter of wetting the hair each morning and applying product? This is mostly regarding wearing curly styles. Any info would be helful>

Thanks Ladies!!

I see this is your first post, so WELCOME!!

I'm texlaxed and when I wear a curly style, I maintain it for a week by moisturizing and pincurling at night.

For more info, please visit my fotki, particularly the albums entitled "How Is It Done?" and "Hair Styles I." (Link in Siggy, password in profile.)

Hope this helps.

I moisturize my hair with something light (profective Growth Lotion or HE's LTR) and seal with oil. After that I braid my hair and sleep on it. HTH

I wash once or twice a week. Once a week with shampoo b/c I am heavy handed with roduct during the week so I know that i have some product build up.
I don't DC as often as I used to; now at leaste twice a month.
I co-wash with either Suave Humectant, WEN, Loreal EverPure or Herbal Essences LTR
I squeeze and blot out the excess water and apply HE LTR leve in, Hollywood Beauty carrot oil moisturizer, coconut oil and braid my hair into 2-3 plaits and let dry overnight and then wear it out the next day or tie it into a ponytail
and then I'll usually bun it until next wash.

I would like to know also.
My sister recently cut and texturised her hair and is using about 6-7 products on any given day. I think that's a bit excessive, but our friend who texturised it for her, also cuts and texturises his wife's hair, and they use tons of different products too. I just think if you're using that many products, you'll never know which ones are actually working and which ones aren't, right?

I am on my own personal protective hair challenge so my regime is very simple.

1) I wash my hair once a week with Motions CPR shampoo and then apply the CPR treatment for 5 minutes, then I use Motions Moisture Plus conditioner mixed with olive oil and leave on for 30 minutes or overnight
2) I apply scurl to moisturize my hair and then apply hair grease on the ends and bun my hair. I use Eco Styler olive oil gel to slick my hair down(love this stuff!!!!!!!!)

That is it and this is so easy and I am retaining my length very nicely since I started this a couple of weeks ago.

I am texlaxed and I am sure to wash and deep condition at least once per week, daily moisturizing has been key for my hair, as well as minimal heat. Conditioner washes are my absolute friend!

I co-wash daily and DC 1-2x per week. I usually blow dry my hair using cool air so that I am not leaving the house with wet hair. These days I alternate between Joice, Suave, and Patene R & N conditioners. I recently created my own buttercream from a link that I found on here to a Youtube video for my WNGs. I was tired of being disappointed by products on the market. I wear a silk bonnet scarf at night.

I realized this is an old thread, but maybe this will help someone. I pre-poo (sometimes baggy the ends overnight the following day), wash, DC, moisturize and style. I moisturize as needed throughout the duration of one week and then repeat the cycle. I sleep with a satin bonnet.

Mrs BHF I will have to check out that method!

goodmorningruby I have never baggied before, do you just put conditioner on the ends and then put a shower cap tied on the ends?

I wash and deep condition my hair once a week sometimes twice. I do not braid up my hair at night(too lazy) but I baggy or wear my satin cap. I either wear it in a puff or updo or bun. I moisturize my hair every morning with scurl or moisturizing conditioner and use gel to slick my hair back and sometimes I use gel on my hair. I comb my hair like every two weeks (lazy). I do not straighten my hair because I don't care to. I texlax my hair every 6 months or so. I have an easy regime because I have too many other things going on to take so much time with my hair.

I don't baggy the ends all the time, but when I do baggy, I section the hair off into four quadrants with ouchless ponytail holders. I apply a good moisturizing conditioner or moisturizer on the ends of the ponytail and length of the hair. I will then seal. I custom cut a large Ziploc bag into four little baggies to fit over the ponytails and secure them with another band. Or I will use plastic sandwich bags. They stay on overnight and then the next day is wash day, so I will proceed to pre-poo, etc etc. Works great. I should probably be more consistent with it for length retention. I hope that makes sense/helps. :yep:
