Hi ladies!

I finally decided to come out of lurking. Just wanted to thank you guys so much for all the cool products you put me on.

Currently I'm working with Infusium 23, AO HSR, JBCO, QB heavy cream, but my hair needs change every couple of months so I tweak my regi soandso often. I wash my hair once a week and I'm still addicted to dandruff shampoo (need some suggestions how to wean myself off, please).

I've been bunning everyday for over 17(!) months now. :perplexed But trust, it works. The bunning has taken so much stress off of my hair and keeps it moisturized and healthy. I only comb my hair when I have it slathered up with conditioner, although at first when I started doing it, it freaked me out because I would loose a lot of hair, but I realized that it was only because I wasn't brushing during the week.

I love bantu knots and banding, but I only do those hairstyles at home, because of the corporate environment I work in. I have a dream... that one day I will have a job, where my hair can run wild. :lachen:But until then, it makes bunning pretty easy for me.

So my hair goal is WL and bunning will bring me there. I get tired of it sometimes, so I let me hair out every so often, see some shocked faces or two and bun that sucker right back up.

Thanks to lhcf, where people from different backgrounds can come together and talk about ... HAIR. Love it.

How long have you've been natural? You and your hair is gorgeous. What kinda buns do you usually do? Welcome to the board!

Thanks for the compliments guys!

I kinda owe my hair and my wallet to you guys.

I have a literal hair odyssey behind me. The only product I always swore by was Infusium 23, because that's the only product my mother used and my hair grew to BSL until I turned 15 and went nuts, cut off my hair, colored it blue, then pink, then red, a couple of years later straightened it at home and this is not a lie - I had a plastic bag full of hair. My hair turned into mush and I had to cut off what I had left.

When I came back to the States to Harlem I started to see all these beautiful women with natural hair and then used kinky twists to grow it out to chin length, cut off my crappy ends and then put my hair up with a hair claw every day, until it was shoulder length.

Then at one point I was blowing out hundreds of bucks for Ouidad products, until one day my hair just revolted and went on strike. And I realized it was because of the alcohol content. So then I started looking online for something for wallet-friendly and after scouring through lhcf I realized that it was a no-brainer: natural hair wants natural products. And ever since then I've been on a roll.

So thanks for all the information you guys provided here.

I've been fully natural for a bit over four years.

I use those buns you get from the hair supply store. They look kinda wiry.

Beginning this year I had to 'graduate' from the small bun to the large one, and know I think I'm going to need a bigger one, but I haven't seen a store that sells a larger one than I have now.

My profile pic shows the bun I wore on my honeymoon. That's a small bun.

Thanks for the dress compliments. The dress is from BCBG. I think if I keep up, I will wear that dress into the ground by the end of next summer. :yep:

what are you addicted to about the dandruff shampoo? Do you use anything else on your scalp? Does it itch and flake alot?

if so the only thing I can think of to help you wean off is oiling your scalp with something like Coconut oil for moisture

it really depends on if you have a scalp condition or not

but just for dry scalp the oils should help alot

I don't feel like my scalp is dry. I think I have oily dandruff. I've tried coconut oil on my scalp before and it made it worse. I actually washed my hair more frequently because it would start smelling awkward after two or three days.
