Polisher v. Serum

What's the difference?

The differences I can tell are that serums seem lighter and control frizzies a little better.

I didn't know there was a difference in polishers and serums. The difference can be in the varying ingredients. Some have better quality and natural ingredients while others are filled with poor quality ingredients.

Oh yeah and I was just thinking, I don't recall ever seeing a product labeled as a heat protecting polish/glosser, only a heat protecting serum. So maybe the bonds in serums are stronger? IDK

Not 100% sure, but i've noticed that "polishers" are heavier on the hair and thicker in formulation. I believe they create the shine effect by sitting on top of the strand like a gloss coating.

Serums are thinner in consistency and leave the hair feeling lighter and more airy. Many serums claim to provide other benefits in addition to shine.

Nah... I disagree with the thickness that was stated.
I've had optimum care serum (red bottle) and it was pretty thick. And my ors hair polisher is a lot thinner. The serum to me was moisturising and the polisher just covers my hair, but it supposed to be used with heat to be locked in. It depend on the brand.

Serums usually contain potent amounts of Silicone. Silicone does a good job of bonding to the hair and filling in holes and pores.

IMO: A Polisher is something used Strictly for "Shine" It's normally comes in a Light "Spray" form of some sort and it gives an Oily Sheen to the Hair.

A Serum on the other hand, it's often alot thicker/heavier and coats the hair. And has the ability to increase shine and can aid in providing a barrier oftentimes to 'block out moisture', control frizz, and sometimes protects against Heat.

I always thought polishers contained potent amounts of silicone too

I thought they're both silicone based products, but serums were generally heavier formulated for frizz control, straightening and/or heat protection and polishes are for just shine.
