I have the FHI platform. I watched the "how to" dvd and it was helpful because most people intuitive response would be to squeeze the plates together and that is a huge NONO. When you hear of negative reviews about the Maxiglide snagging or ripping someone's hair out, I'd bet you a dollar against a dime they were not using it properly. The only big gripe I have about the Maxiglide is that the toothed plate and steam plate can be hard to clean. But it's efficient and it takes me less time to flatiron my hair than when I use the:

Secondly, re: the bolded: how is one supposed to use the FHI Platform or what is the correct technique? I have the Platform & I always squeeze the plates together when passing down the hair. I don't have the dvd so I didn't know I was using improper technique.
. I was referring to the maxiglide. The maxiglide comes with a how to dvd on the correct method to flatiron. It's okay to squeeze the plates of the FHI together
WOW, this is beautiful. Loving the swang. I just bought a maxiglide MP and I tried it on a small section of my hair. My ends have never looked this good I am loving this iron. I had my eye on the FHI runway, but can't afford it so maybe I will have to stick to my MG and my Sedu. I wonder what results I would get from the MG and Sedu together:scratchch

I owned the first generation since 2007. But when I dropped it and broke it in half, I immediately went online to replace it. I've never had a problem with reversion, but I don't use very high heat settings, nor do I flat-iron often. It also helps that you get the hair as straight as possible with as little heat as possible prior to flat-ironing your hair
