Don't ask what made me decide to do this because I have no clue :lachen:. But I figured "If the maxiglide keeps my hair moisturized and smooth but the FHI gives silkier results, then if I flatironed using both....it should turn out amazing." And there you have it. I can confidently say that I am at BSB (when I felt where my shoulderblades are through my backfat:look:), but that only a couple of inches below APL for me. I'm still not BSL yet :ohwell:-hopefully by the end of January I should be there.

My hair still feels quite short, but I'm also excited that my hair is much closer to the large freckle in the center of my back that I use as a tracker. Still haven't "trimmed" and I really proud of myself for that I'm noticing that I retained a lot more length. I'm happy with my hair's current state, it stays moisturized and my ends are pretty much split-free (I seriously think sealing with vaseline/blue magic coconut grease is responsible for this turnaround). Without further ado, here are the pics

Here's the rollerset: (I used Salerm 21 and chi silk infusion)

Here are the flatiron results (I did one pass with the maxiglide and one or more pass with the FHI :look:). I used a lot of heat protectant (Turn up the heat) so I should be okay :

"swang" shot

After taking down my wrap:

Ponytail (it's getting longer :yay:)

Gorgeous!!! That sounds like a great idea but that's too much heat for me!!

I initially thought that too, but here's the thing

- I do not blowdry my hair, only rollerset and sit under the dryer
- I didn't set either one of the irons past 350 and use 1 pass for each iron. So it amounted to the same amount of heat I would normally use anyway

Girl! Don't give me any ideas! I have my heart set on the FHI Runway but the steam feature on the Maxiglide intrigues me. Beautiful results btw!

ETA: Did you go over your entire head with the Maxi and then used the FHI or did you alternate each flat iron per section of hair?

Did you use the teeth plate with your maxiglide? Have you tried using the teeth plate and then the flat plate both on the maxiglide?

I was drooling at your rollerset, let alone the flat iron results! Your hair looks great and I know what you mean about flat irons having two different strengths.

I alternated the flat iron per section of hair

I used the teeth plate with the steam and then passed the FHI over that section. In the past I have used the flat plate and it produced good results, but the FHI gives my hair a much more polished silkier finish...if that make sense- like the type you would receive for a professional salon. The maxiglide gives my hair more body though. I swear if FHI ever came out with a steam iron I would be in hog heaven

Looks great but are these results better or any different at all from when you just use one flat iron?

ETA: not being snarky, really just curious to see if it was worth it to you.

OP, do you have the FHI runway?
Also, did you watch the video on the "how to" regarding the maxiglide? I am really tempted to get the maxiglide and take advantage of HSN's special

Oh I didn't think you were...it's okay. I can actually tell a difference in out my hair feels. Using the FHI only, my hair can tend to feel a little dry afterwards but it didn't this time. My hair had a heavy swing to it which I've been trying to accomplish forever and when I normally maxiglide my hair, it tends to feel very light weight and doesn't resist reversion as long. It's was perfect balance between the strengths of both flatirons :yep:

I have the FHI platform. I watched the "how to" dvd and it was helpful because most people intuitive response would be to squeeze the plates together and that is a huge NONO :nono:. When you hear of negative reviews about the Maxiglide snagging or ripping someone's hair out, I'd bet you a dollar against a dime they were not using it properly. The only big gripe I have about the Maxiglide is that the toothed plate and steam plate can be hard to clean. But it's efficient and it takes me less time to flatiron my hair than when I use the FHI alone because I don't have to chase my hair as I go.

I'd give both irons two thumbs up :yep:

Wow thanks for your responses. Youre on to something here. I love the maxiglide and how straight it gets the hair, but youre right, its not a "swing" iron imho. It never dawned on me that it should be until you posted this. I got my hair blown by the dominicans and my hair moved just blinking and I want to achieve that at home without a blowdryer. It does not do that with the maxglide but I love the steam feature and the teeth, and it is very light feeling as you described. I also used the Chi and my hair didnt feel as good as it didnt with the MG...hmm *considers this two iron business :scratchch

This is precisely the issue that I was having with my hair- my hair just felt incredibly supple with the maxiglide, and even though the FHI got my hair shinier it felt more brittle due to the lack of moisture. And seeing as I have fine hair anyway, I just thought my strands weren't thick enough to give me that look.
