I read on in this thread and I saw that some ladies have baby hairs all the way down their neck.......I def don't know what that's like.....I guess if its all disheveled lookin then that would def pose a neatness issue

Also Nonie I concur with the poster that said you're hiding all that gorgeous hair from us, you should have a siggy putting that fabness on display and I demand a tutorial on yur wet to dry flat ironing and putting in braid extensions!!

Yes, yours looks very neat. This is what the lining would do for mine. Just remove the vampire teeth.

just smoosh some oil or serum on them, & smooth with your hands or use a brush. don't cut them off! embrace it: it's your hair!

plus the longer you let your "buckshots" (i prefer the term baby coilies!) grow, the easier they are to blend in with your nape. my shortest kitchen baby coilies are about 2 inches, which makes them easier to smooth than if they were only 1/8 of an inch.

Ahh okay gotcha, I would still think it might be best if you just learned some way to work with it, try a scarf some gel or some butters to see if it can help neaten it out because once you trim it, you'll have to deal with when it grows back and the wierd stubble stage, then what if somehow too much gets trimmed off one day and you or someone else ends up hacking off your napeerplexed

It doesn't offend me. I first heard the term Taco Meat as it related to a man's chest hair. It wasn't offensive to me - I thought it was funny because thats what it looks like to me.

I thought 'taco meat' was funny 20 years ago when I first heard Eddie Murphy say it. I thought it was funny when I was natural and I think it's funny now that I'm not.

I always use fantasia IC gel and a tooth brush so the taco meat wouldn't look so dry.

If you shave it, won't that part of your hair be shorter than the rest? I'm not natural, but it seems to me that shaving that spot constantly will give you an uneven look. Brush it up or you can even give yourself cute finger curls.

lol @ "vampire teeth" I feel ya! The extension of the hair down the neck can be unsightly. It's completely understandable that you would want to "line it up".

Haven't you seen people with curly hair leave tendrils hanging down? Sometimes it's part of the style, sometimes it's just kitchen hair that they learn to work with. I find it so cute myself that I even forced that do with my twists even though they kinda look dumb coz not only are they long enough to be included in the updo--so it's darn obvious I'm forcing it -- but I have always thought an updo with the nape dangling (usually in tendrils) is so cute and wasn't going to miss a piece of that pie, so ...hello! *snaps and moves head from side to side*

lol I've been wearing half wigs so I haven't cut it since the summer. I'm naturally prone to finger coil it anyways (just for fun) but I still have a long way to go in accepting the architectural feat that is my nape bridge. Next time I wear my hair up, I'll give the long coils/tendrils look a chance.

i dont have taco meat lol. the very back of my hair is almost straight and very silky so thats great for updos but bad for twists and such. my twists back there never stay.

My DH used to line me up but ooh he got too serious and I ended up lookin like a boy. Plus my skin is too sensitive and would bump up -- like a boy. And my scissor trims were always uneven. Something to consider.

That area will grow OP. Manuska speaks the truth about shea butter and the kitchen. Chile I butter my peas. It helps, and they are growing.

I think mind grows further down. Like I'm looking at your pics, and your edges in the back seem to grow in a nice U-shape. Mine grows like vampire teeth. Like normal in the middle, then further down on my neck at the sides.

My hair does the same thing so I'm able to braid it up without the taco meat look.

I simply don't understand why people feel the need to use such terms as taco meat, buckshot etc. to describe type 4 hair, it's simply not necessary at all and it certainly offends a lot of people!
