Interesting, I thought I was gonna see some diff technique, I did the same thing, except I just grabbed a medium sized section, added some gel and used my fingers..that end result does look a bit chunky though, like a whole bunch of product .....*shrugs* hey this curl definition thing is a work in progress.... its good she found what works ..

Sidenote... maybe it's the gel, mines looks like I used a lot 2..but I didnt.. hmmm

This is her hair, same technique, 3 months LATER. Seems to have grown. Looks better this time...

But geeze, 3 hours? It takes me all of 1 minute to RAKE the product through my hair and it looks just fine. I don't do the whole x, y and z nonsense. Granted, our hair types may be a tad different, but 3 hours just to get some curls? REALLY? :/

And no, I don't like how she downed her hair. And I hate to say it...her daughter appears to be...ok, I won't go there. Nevermind. NEVERMIND. Just wondering if certain thought processes led to certain things is all.

Ok, I saw the child's dad. I was right. MOVING ALONG. >.>

yeah, 3 hrs.. iono what she type of sectionin she's doing... it took me a hot 10 mins to do my whole head...

3 Hours to style my hair is about average, not a shocker to me at all.

She made excellent progress using shingling....I think it looks lovely:yep: I can't WAIT to do this on my mommy and my friends:meme:

I wish her the best of luck on her natural journey and her mental transition.

she's actually boring. i feel sorry for those who have mixed emotions about their hair and are listening to her describe her hair.

i only got through half of it...teaching self hair hate while trying to teach how to shingle does not mesh well together. as you can see the comments on here page reflects her video.

Well...the way she feels about her hair aside...I think her technique improved if you watch her latest video. It looks less producty and gunky...I think she slathered it on WAY too thick in the first one...

ok do my hair is longer and it takes me 15 mins to use my eco-styler and a brush. What seems to be taking so long is that she is doing a half-coil or something. I did that one time, while it did last a week, it took me 4 hrs to do. never again.

I was just creeped that she used the brown gel to do this. Thinking about caking that brown goo all in my hair and getting it on my neck and shoulders gives me chills.:perplexed

^^^I think the ecostyler brand is supposed to work better the most other brown gels. Just check out the ecostyler threads. She also changed to the clear eco gel in the other tutorials.

I'm not talking about the brand. I use Eco styler in clear. I'm talking about having brown stuff all in my head. It seems like it could get very messy. Especially if you refresh it with a spray bottle and do the "shake" method.

That's what Im saying. A lot of naturals used this brown gel for shingling with results similar to KCCC with results lasting for days. There is a new Eco with Olive oil that many are changing to, but initially the brown gel was raved about. She didnt make this up. She got this from YT and put her own spin on it. She has had lots of growth, maybe from the low manipulation and better moisture retention.

I get the idea that she may live in an area without may other AAs and maybe not a great product selection because she said that they stopped making the brown Eco gel. I have seen it everywhere so I dont think its off the shelves and she always mentions Sally's. When I lived in the MW all they had was Sally's.

Actually the pink has the best ingredients even compared to the new one with olive oil.

Refresh means just spritz with water not necessarily add more gel.
