Thank you! Can you give a description of how you do yours? I'm thinking about trying them this spring when I'm able to do these kinds of styles with no/low heat.

Me too. I wanted to know which oil and which conditioner and how much of each? Spray it on, or rub it down with your fingers. Do you just put it all through your hair and then twist, or do you put some on each section you twist? How much do you use exactly?

I have been spraying my hair with water to get it wet, then using a moisturizer ... qp mango butter, seyani butter, or Nourish and Shine.

I have had mixed results.

I usually do two strand twist or briadout. I use infusium23 cause I need to get rid of it and I mix it with a little africa's best oil. I mix the condish and oil 2gether with my rat tail comb and part across the back and section then I take the condish mix pull through that section and get it really moist then just part in two strands and twist.

I do the braidout the same. Jus part like ur gonna corn row take the same mix and put it on the section I am doing and then braid. Wrap at night and take out in the am. I only finger comb.

I do this for a week or two wash then do the same. I usually do this when I am about 5 weeks post it saves me. I don't do the mix every night but I do twist every night.

^^Co signing with ChinaBlk's method. I want to do braid out right now!

I used beeswax on my hair. My twistout lasted a good four days.

I love using conditioner and mousse together. I use any ol cheapie condish, like V05, Suave or Bath and body works. I put a little on each section before twisting (helps with detangling and slip) along with some Dove Mousse (gives very soft hold). My twistouts are always super big and smell heavenly all day! :yep:

You can't keep me out of a relaxed twistout thread!

Airdry till 80% dry, apply lustrasilk shea butter cholesterol on each section before flattwisting/cornrowing... bantu knots or orange flexi rods on ends. Usually airdry overnight and take out while continuously dipping my fingers in my homemade shea butter mix. I always rebraid/retwist every night.

See siggy for results..

I use diluted Wrap N Tap and Castor Oil......I do two strand twist....big parts....

Nice!!! I wonder why conditioner make my hair chrunchy? umm? Any suggestions?

I use Motions Nourish Leave In Spray, and some kind of oil, EVOO or Kemi

and I use conditioner on my ends when I roll it.

Thanks ladies! I need to get a technique together...I think I need to figure out how big to make my parts because my hair air dries VERY BIG.

I'm not relaxed, but i help my relaxed friends with twistouts. ive realized the products used & the way they are done affects the entire look.

1) If you want fuller results, you do mid size individual two strand twists or braids
2) if you want a sleeker, less full look, do flat twists, to the scalp
3.) the size of the twist/braid affects the look too, the smaller it is, the more defined the look will be overall

use some kind of creamy hair lotion while damp and it will help. furthermore, for relaxed heads, use perm rods to curl the ends and make sure the ends are moist or sort of wet so they can set:

depending on how you want your hair to look, you can pick and choose which size rod. I like to alternate.

On one of my relaxed friends, I even bantu knotted the twistout for a fuller, more natural looking effect.

In my siggy, I wanted a less full look, so I flat twisted with mid size pieces but since my hair has thickened, it still looked full. When I dont flat twist, it kind of sticks up like a curly fro:

i also dont use combs to make parts in my head, i just randomly select a section and twist. Too many parts look contrived.

I think I will try again based on the advice given in this thread.

Thank you so much Nichi. I wish you could come here and do mine; I'm scared to do it because I think it's going to dry big and look like a mop. I think I'm going to try flat twists and section my hair across the middle and do two rows of hair.

hmmm....what conditioners are u using? Maybe try a creamy product that is intended for leave-in use. Lots of folks like GVP the Conditioner. I think Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship is good too. :yep:
