Relaxed 4Bs - Do you co-wash?

Oh right - answer the question.

I really think the co-washing helps with the NG by keeping it moist and smooth. My staples are:

Rusk Calm
Suave Humectant
Hariveda (the daily protein one)

I will admit though, I do 12-13 week stretches and around week 11 it gets kind of rough. But I use CO applied w/applicator bottle to my NG after every co-wash and at night to seal. This works really well for me.

Taz, Yes, I do a Weekly Co-Wash.:yep: I have virtually eliminated the 'use' of Shampoo unless I am clarifying to remove product build-up.

I have dry skin/scalp anyway, so For Me, Co-Washing has been a Life Saver. And has kept my hair and scalp nice.

I will usually Co-Wash with Something either very moisturizing i.e. Jason, Giovanni SAS or I will use a Protein Based one i.e. Millcreek Keratin, etc...and then follow-up with a DC Treatment, with either Steam or Heat Cap.

This Fall, However, I have been strictly using Nutrine Garlic Conditioner as my Co-Wash Conditioner of Choice to ward off and help combat any potential 'shedding'

I took a pro-active approach to the Fall/Winter Dry Air and just began using the Nutrine Garlic Conditioner following up with a Reconstructor and a Moisturizing DC Treatment. OR Nutrine, Millcreek (or Jason) a Reconstructor and a DC.

I cowash once or twice a week depending on my schedule, alternating with VO5 Moisture Milks (its very moisturizing) or Mane and Tail for protein. Once I get about 7 weeks post my edges start wanting to coil up and do everything but lay flat, so I use a spritz bottle of rosewater and aloe vera juice...spray that on my edges, than apply a dab of elasta qp mango butter smooth back and tie down with a scarf, it works like a charm, very smooth edges.

I cowashed a lot at the beginning of this year but I lost a lot of my hair because I wasn't doing it right:nono:.

Now that I am over 41.5 weeks post my last relaxer, I may consider starting it again but on braided up hair like I do now with my washes and DCs.

I was watching Bronzeg's (a.k.a chinablk on YT) YT videos and she says this is what she does when she is stretching her relaxers, so I have to try it. This would mean I would have to reduce DCing my hair from twice to once a week only.

Oh? What were you doing wrong?

Off to watch Chinablk's video ...

Hmm, I'm thinking of cowashing with v05 Moisture Milks, v05 herbal Escapes, v05 Tea Therapy, Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship and HE Totally Twisted and of course my favorite of all - Aussie Moist Conditioner:lick:.

I have some leftover GVP Joico K-Pak Deep Penetrating Reconstructor and a full bottle of Ovation Cell Therapy Conditioner that I'll use for my protein cowashes. I only want to do one cowash a week.

I was cowashing my hair without braiding it up first. Chinablk braids up her hair or put it in a ponytail to avoid excessive manipulation of her hair. Her haircare regimen is very simple and I think I'll be watching some of her videos again. I really like her regimen and her results.

I've already simplified my regimen a little but I'm sure it could use some more improvements. All I know is I don't want to detangle my hair more than twice a week, (once a week if I can help it) and even that is too much right now with all this new growth on my head:nono:.

I co-wash once a week either with suave tropical coconut conditioner or NTM daily deep conditioner. My hair loves co-washing.

I try to co-wash at least once a week but its becoming harder now that I am 13 weeks post texlax. Like Aggie I think I am going to try to do it with my hair braided in plaits so detangling won't be so bad. I use Suave, VO5 Strawberries and Cream, Aussie Moist, Shescentit Avocado Cond, Hair One Olive Oil, and Mane N Tail.

Sometimes I feel a little lazy and don't want to deal with my hair so I do it once every 7-10 days.

I'm more 4a than 4b, just over 16 weeks post, and in the event that I co-wash I will use: BPT Wheat Germ Rinse, Oyin Honey Hemp Conditioner, Giovanni 50/50 or Smooth as Silk. :yep: I'm looking into Aussie Moist and V05 Moisture Milks, or the Suave Coconut.

When I first started cowashing it didnt work out. But now my hair loves it now that I am proteining on a regular basis. I cowash 1x a week. I use hairone, V05 Free Me Freesia, Garnier Fructis Length and strength

How do you do this? If one is co-washing in a ponytail, how do you get the conditioner deep into the hair? Is the ponytail loose?

I hope that makes sense :look:

No, I dilute the conditioner a little in a 32oz container filled with conditioner and water and pour over my hair and just kinda let it seep through the strands.

You don't have to make the ponytail too tight, a little loose is better but not too loose.

I press the conditioner in with my fingers but I don't pull or tug at my hair anymore.

I was breaking too many strands this way. Best thing is to leave it in for about 2-3 minutes before rinsing it out to get the full benefits of the cowash.

After I found a condish that my hair liked for cowashing I did it 2-3 times per week in the summer. but I have found that my hair needs shampoo at least once a week to feel clean too much cowashing has a reverse affect of drying out my hair.

i CW three times a week after kickboxing training. I use aphogee 3 min and after that use lekair cholesterol. APhogee has ended breakage for me. To smooth my edges i just brish in some lekair it seems to slick them down well. on my new growth i use avocado butter. it keeps the new growth really soft. right now i am about 6 weeks post and i think i have have a ton of new growth.

My hair has been dry lately and I may need to try co-washing. But the last time I tried it my hair didn't feel clean and it was a tangled, mushy mess!! I'm sure success in co-washing is all about using the right conditioner, so I may have to give it another try. The only problem is that I hate experimenting with products. I try to keep it (more or less) Phyto or ORS and that's it.
