My shingling attempt looks like this:

Me and Fred's shingling attempt.:lachen: Shingling doesn't work for me.:nono: Who else can't shingle?

My hair doesn't curl in the front. It just lies straight and no amount of product can help. Hair acceptance I guess.

maybe try putting your front in mini twists while damp to give it some texture?

My front is straighter too, and I've found that too much product just makes it look straighter b/c it weighs it down. :ohwell:

Make sense. Does your hair tangle with this style?

I should post my shingling attempts :lachen::lachen:

I know what you mean!

SHINGLING absolutely does not work for me! Ecostyler? Erm, NOT!

I get nicer coils when I just let my hair do its own thing! :yep:

Oooohh eeeemmm geeee! LOL that is too funny. Back in the day when we used to see someone looking a mess we used to call them frederick douglas. (So bad I know...) Thanks for the laugh.

Not really. It's set in place so the strands can't mingle much.

When I'm ready to detangle, I spritz it with water first to soften it up, then separate it into 4 large sections and pin it up. Once it's sectioned, I get in the shower, rinse, and add my conditioner of choice. Let it sit while I shower, and by the end I can finger comb through it very easily. :yep:

For deeper detangling, I mist with water, then use Amla oil on my scalp and length. It softens the hair, and the shed stuff slides out.

Whatever you do don't try to comb it dry after shingling, and it's probably best to do everything in sections. :yep:

I'm with you. I was just looking at someone's shingling pics and for about 3 seconds considered trying it again but naw. :nono: It will come out looking exactly like that. :lachen:

My hair and shingling just do not mix.

Addy I love your BC. Girl, Fred has some good hair, all he needs is a nice shape up.:yep:

I find that I get totally different results - with the exact same products - depending on the size of the sections I use, the amount of product I use, and if I use my fingers it looks very different from how it does if I use my denman. My hair would look like fred's if I didn't use enough product.

The front of my hair is straighter too and ecostyler is the only that defines its wavier pattern. But I have to scrunch it a little too to make it curl up. Blow drying on cool or with heat helps a lot too.

i just laughed so hard!!! i was all ready to see some smooth silky curls and hair porn. this made my night. I can go to bed now...lol...

:lachen: :lachen: :lachen:

pure hilarity. not frederick douglas though!

but i agree. try, try again! and if all else fails, there's always braidouts and twistouts for definition :yep:

Shingling only leaves me with a fluffy cloud that has a few curls and kinks thrown in. then agagain I use terri's conditioner only method of doing it because gel makes my hair hard and crunchy. I never seem to be able to get 2nd day hair out of it so it's a work in progress.

Add me to the no shingling list. I'm almost 1 yr post and you cant even tell at the front of my head. It's so darn straight even when I do twist outs. I'm sure it would work from the ears back but the front would look a HAM.
