Nichi, that's a good look. Making me think about going natural again. I am already 7 months post and don't care, so maybe?

I'm lemming for a Runway so bad! :drunk:

Solia! I tried sedu and it snagged and did not straighten my relaxed hair doesn't go high enough, always ended up in a boof and smelled! But the sedu.....on my natural hair does great and does not snag! look at pics in my siggy. the short flat ironed hair style is on my natural hair and that was a rush job!:yep:

o no! siggy didn't take! well look in my profile album, thx!

It's SE-DU or die!

Actually I haven't tried any of the other expensive popular ones, but my Sedu gets my hair bone straight and I don't know what else I'd ask of a flat iron  I'd sure like to, uh, borrow an FHI and see what the big deal is, though :look:

Attached: 1. natural hair getting ready to flat iron 2. Blow dried w/hot air brush 3. All ironed w/Sedu

Products and techniques are just as important as the iron, though. I've been having great results with more shine & swing as I've been experimenting with the Kim Vo line of products (see my LHCF blog if you want more details than you could ever care to know )

FYI: My hair is natural 4a and I iron w/my Sedu all the way up (410) or very close to it.

I think its great to see that there are so many different brands that are yielding equally gorgeous, silky results. Just shows: different strokes for different folks...

Sedu for me! I loved Jilbere, but it would completely break on me in the middle of a flat ironing session after about 6 months of use. I broke down and got the Sedu. I love it. I have had two already.

My hair is short now, and I haven't taken pics in a while but this is what Sedu did when I had short hair:

And when I had long hair:

Sorry they are so big. But I love my Sedu!

wow! Beautiful hair skegeesmb!

likeacharm: i use my platform between 27(0/5) and 325. I'm relaxed.

Wanted throw in there, that for my roots, I use a mini flat iron from Sally's called the TS Titan Miniature Flatiron...Oh my goodness. Had straight, silky roots that felt like a fresh relaxer...not to mention I was about 12 wks post and the results were better than a hot comb (i tested part of my hair with that the day I tested the Titan)

My nano titanium Croc2 gives me the straightest, silkiest, blowing in the wind result. Result can be seen in my siggy :)

I bought the Sedu because of all the rave reviews and pics on Folica.com. I'm very impressed with the results. It also claims to use technology that protects the hair and keeps it healthier during the styling process than other irons.

as a self-proclaimed flat iron connoisseur i HAVE to post in this thread!

i own 4 flat irons...

the chi turbo, FHI platform (i think...), the instyler and a maxiglide...

and out of those the maxiglide kicks all the other irons BUTTS period!

the chi  is wiggity-wack compared to ANY of the other three...YES you read right...the FHI AND the instyler both straighten BETTER than a chi.

the instyler and my FHI are equals, but NAYTHIN i've tried straightens like that maxiglide! it's like a pressing comb AND flat iron all in one! it really is the business!

i've also tried that wack herstyler iron

so, to answer your question: MAXIGLIDE!

ps - i posted a pic of my ironed out hair on my blog here.

I have Chi and I'm gonna say...Not the chi! (either that or I don't know how to use it to get that fresh from the salon look) :/

I just made a post about the FHI a few days ago..I don't know about it...it has gotten poor reviews in regards to reliability...so I am sticking with the SEDU..3 years and going strong :-)...even in the Deutchland!

I have some pics of my natural hair straightened with the Deep Brillance flat iron(CHI for afro hair) and it worked fine..but the SEDU makes my hair feel silky and very smooth.

I haven't tried the FHI Runway, but I've heard the Nano Chi is close in performance. I know my Nano Chi outstraigtens the reg Chi and it costs about a fourth of the Runway.

I sold my Sedu and repurchased the CHI. Nothing gets to my roots like a CHI. When I used my SEDU, I walked around with a mullet because I could not get to the roots for the life of me with that iron. When I use my CHI, people always ask if I have a fresh touch up and I'm transitioning.

Yeeeaars ago before LHCF I had a BSS type ceramaic flat iron w/ purple plates/coating. My hair grew and was so healthy with it. The ceramic did not start to chip until I gave it to my friend 2 years later (did not chip until after it was hers). You don't have to spend 100's for a good iron, but if you'd like, then the CHI is good lol

Do you have natural hair?

Sorry for responding so late. I'm transitioning and haven't had a relaxer since this past May. IMO I like the Instyler. Works great for me. The majority of complaints I've read on reviews (not here but on google) has been the price and being taken advantage of. I dodged that bullet by going to Ulta and buying mine. I use it once a week and then rollerset or pin curl the rest of the week.

Someone asked about prodcts..
CON moist. shampoo
Ovation (let sit an hour)
ORS rep pak w SAA (DC 30 min)
Kera care moisturizer and oil to seal
Nexxus heat protectant

Methods used..
Crown and glory and PinkSkates blowdrying method

Salon quality results defintely comes down to technique. Right now I'm in love with my SEDU but I'm using the Mizani Thermasmooth line along with it. The results are FAB! I've seen some ppl post pictures of their results with the FHI Runway and I must say I am not moved :ohwell: The results look mediocre in my opinion. Then I think TECHNIQUE. The Chi, Sedu, and FHI are great flat irons but without the technique the flat iron is nothing.

I have to agree. I've seen results using sedu, CHI, FHI, etc. and their hair looks SO FABULOUS. It's all about the technique and health of your hair and probably products as well...

I also use Thermasmooth and that line is really the 'ish'. :yep:
