I stayed up putting these orange flexirods in my hair... they came out beautiful. I tied them up in a net, put a satin bonnet on my head... woke up and it looked like my hair was a smooshed hot mess and looks about a week old!

WHY CANT I EVER KEEP A CURLY STYLE OVERNIGHT?!?!?

What am I doing wrong?

Please...somebody...help

I have court tomorrow and I look raggedy... I hope the judge doesnt take my speeding punishment too far, because I look this way...

I have that same problem, that's why I haven't used my curlformers or flexirods in a long time. I hope someone can help.

I've only used magnetics to get a curly style and my stylist uses setting lotion, the curls last me for a week.

Keeping an eye on this thread.

To keep my curls at night, I sleep like Craig's sister did in the movie Friday. Head falling over and everything :nono:

I know my fiance laughs at me....now that I think of it, it must be a funny sight. :giggle:

That's how I sleep with tight braids cause I'm tenderheaded and hate laying on my head. I don't really get my hair briaded very much anymore...only when it's worth it.

Seriously you are better off sleeping with the rods in your hair thats the only way i can keep a curl

Yep, thats the other option, sleeping pretty. And I don't understand why they call it sleeping pretty because there's nothing pretty about it.

I want soo badly to use my curlformers but I will only do that when I know I have an evening event or a mid day event.

I can't bare to think of all that work and then no curls the next day.

Didn't someone here show how to pin curl their curls after using curlformers or rods?

To maintain a flexi rod set - Make a loose ponytail high on top of head, secure with a silk scrunchie (wrapped around the base of the ponytail once), and then cover hair with a large satin bonnet. In the morning, remove the bonnet/scrunchie and finger style/arrange ringlets. Sometimes I would even comb through the set with a Jilbere shower comb and then form candy curls with my fingers and then separate again.

Hmmm pin curls. Why didnt I see this post Saturday night? I did curlformer Saturday and today Im in a bun

You have to use the SOS hair method.... "Save a Sista's Hair"....LOL

My hair is extremely soft... nothin holds it.. .not lottabody or any other type of setting lotions... no mousse...nothing. The curls will hold for 1 day then... the next gone.... oh and don't let me lay on them. It's all over.

The only way that I can get them to stay for a few days (meaning 2-3 max) is to prop myself up on some pillows.. laying on my stomach...fold my arms in front of my.... rest my chin on on my wrist or the folds of my arms and sleep with my head straight up....THAT"S IT!!!!:lachen: That's the only way it works for me...

Othen than that.. I just consider it a one day hairstyle.

I'm mad.

See I had lottabody in it, my curls are there, but they are just smooshed and flat.

MAD MAD MAD!!! I look like Whoopie...

Ok..I thought I was the only person that did this!!!! I also do this with my wash and go curls in the summer. The key is the scrunchie need to be loose. I prefer to cut a piece from a pair of tights that way I can adjust the tightness depending on the volume of my hair. Now this works best on SL and longer because basically whats going to happen are the sides of your hair (above the ears) are going to flatten out but the hair thats on top (crown) will maintain their curls and fall over the hair that straight! Good luck!!! Hope this helped!!!

Gonna hafta try this... I am between APL and MBL... so I need to find a scrunchie that'll be right...

I use the scrunchie method too, I just do it with those huge bobby pins instead, but not to tight, cuz I don't want the sides to get completely flat (which my hair does quite easily :nono:). Then, I use a few hair pins, to keep the curls on top of my head. After that, I just tie my scarf so that I leave a lot of loose material on the top of my head, over the bun, so I don't flatten it by mistake... et voila! No worries the next day.

Actually, I was gonna make a thread about this... when I do, I'll leave a link in this thread. I was on vacation, and I rocked the same flexi-rod set for, like, 4-5 days, so y'all know I had to document that amazing occurrence, lol!

Let me edit what I said earlier. I dont wrap my hair around my ponytail. I drop my head pull all my hair to the top of my head and use a loose scrunchie (piece of my tights tied in a knot ) and put it on as I would if I were doing a ponytail but I dont pull the ends out. So now the scrunchie is now holding (loosely) the base of my hair and my ends. Sometimes I pull the middle out some so that its at the very ends of my hair. AGAIN IT HAS TO BE LOOSE!!! And the next day just shake it out! I have been able to keep my hair in curls for a week like this. Again good luck!

I don't think my hair is thick enough to even hold the scrunchie on, smdh, but how do you keep the ends from flattening?

I do this with my normal wash-and-gos, but I use a scarf and tie my hair instead of a scrunchie. :yep: I'll have to test and see how well this works on Curlformer-ed hair... :look:

you could always sleep with your face directly in the pillow... well not DIRECTLY into it, since you might never wake back up

i sleep with my head facing down, on top of my chin. and i also move the pillow down so that if i were to lay my head to either side, no curls would be smushed. it takes a bit of adjusting, but if you can position your face right, you'll be able to sleep comfortably & not smoosh a single curl :yep:

Lmao..I do every single thing u listed otherwise my curls are smushed the next day

I don't even try to save my styles overnight. I sleep too dang hard. That's why I love flexi rods. They take 5 minutes at most to put in and they are so comfortable. I don't even feel them when I'm asleep, and I get fresh curls every morning.

Thats why I prefer to use a piece of a pair of tights. I can adjust it. When my hair has soft curls in thinner than when I do a wash and go and can I adjust the knot accordingly. Because its loose it really doesnt smoosh my ends. By the end of the week I may have to use a curling iron a little but I find this method works best for me. Let us know if this helps!

Just wanted to let you ladies know that the key to maintaining springy curls is to use as little product as possible. When I did Spiral Sets I would make sure my hair was soaking/dripping wet and spray a lot of Elasta QP H2O on it. I made sure the set was completely dry before I removed the rods. I would apply a dime-sized amount of serum as finisher.

My method works fine for now, but since I'm transitioning to texlaxed, my hair might[/i[ get thicker in the future... here's hoping. :)

On a related note, I found that Chi keratin infusion is the bomb for setting either flexirods or braid-/twist- outs. The cirls/waves come out real crispy looking, like, defined. I'm planning to try it to flat-iron, like that poster who used the Aphogee green tea reconstructor.
