The flat iron that gives you that fresh from the salon look is...

After trying Jilbere Titanium and Babyliss Tourmaline I have to say I get the best results with the FHI Runway. I never thought I would spend that much on anything for my hair but it's worth it since I dont do salons.

The Sedu--smooth, doesn't snag, and I got compliments after flat ironing my own hair--a rare occurrence!

Babybliss..The best flatiron ever is the Andis:look:..silky smooth.
I used it for my sig picture last year before i stepped my flatiron game up..still nothing so far has really compared

bumping for responses. I want to know to. I am dying for a FHI Runway, but I cant spend that much cash. So I am thinking between a CHI and FHI platform. Any thoughts??

I just saw looked this up so I could see what price you're talking about and :barf:

FHI Platform is the business IMO. I have a Sedu and I hard dissed it for my FHI. 1-2 passes and I'm sleek and silky, that's on natural hair too! I just did BKT last week and it's been even more sleek!

FHI ANYTHING....my avi is the FHI platform and I'm natural 4a/b.

Edit: I did a Sedu vs FHI on my transitioning hair and the Sedu was returned.

Exactly why I've been holding off getting one. I have an FHI Platform and love it; I'm just trying to get an answer as to whether or not the Runway is SIGNIFICANTLY, DRAMATICALLY, UNBELIEVABLY better than the Platform and worth upgrading for such a steep price... Even if you could find the Runway for half ($200+) the retail price($400+) it is still A LOT.

Some say that the Runway gets naturals perfectly straight-- so I also wondered if the Runway would be absolutely necessary for relaxed hair, since I can vouch that the Platform gets my relaxed hair straight. Questions, questions...:drunk:

Also wanted to add that on YouTube, there's a picture tutorial of a stylist using a CHI (Turbo I believe) iron on natural hair...it was blingin' and PIN. STRAIGHT. Absolutely gorgeous. So it could ultimately be technique or how a flat iron works for your hair. =]

Sedu, hands down!!! Get the original model if you decide to buy it... it gets closer to the roots and i get SILKY straight results at 320-340 degrees. The plates are smoothj as glass too, so theres no pulling. I look like i have a fresh relaxer 11 weeks post with my fine-med textured coarse 4a'b hair.

I've tried the chi and IMO sedu is far superior

These threads kill me. How can I decide between a Sedu or FHI when there are people who swear by both?

BTW, let me stop knocking my Solia before it bums out on me. It's a good flat iron.

any ceramic tourmaline ionic iron will do. tourmaline has ions that, even when the iron isn't plugged in, cause the surface of the plates to feel slippier than a typical ceramic iron.

i have an x5 superlite.

it goes up to 410 degrees, and makes my hair feel super silky after just 1 pass, even without a serum.
in comparison, i've flat ironed a friend's hair with this iron, an andis iron, and a chi iron. i was suprised to see that this really outperforms the chi.

retails at folica for $110, but i found mine at ross for $40 :sekret:

ETA: i'm relaxed, so i never turn the temp above 350. so if i'm just using it to bump the ends, i'll put it on 300. if i'm 8+ weeks post and trying to straighten the roots, i'll put it at 350.

I got my hair flat ironed this past week at my local OGLE beauty school and my hair is is super, fresh relaxer straight. The girl used a Andis Tourmaline Nano Ceramic 1 in. Flat Iron and Mizani Thermasmooth serum. I'll be getting both STAT. My Babybliss is pretty good too. I like it better than my CHI.

Could everyone include what temp. and products they use with their flatiron? I think that makes a big difference.

Thanks for this thread OP (I'm making my Christmas wishlist )

So what is so AMAZING about the FHI Runway.. I looked at the price in literally laughed out loud! What is it, gold plated ?! Anyone have any pictures of their hair straightened with this iron? What makes it so good that someone could rationalize selling it (and buying it) for $500.00+ CAD ?
