Crackers Phinn

Either A Blessing Or A Lesson.
My regimen is pretty solid but on occaision I'll pick up a new product if I find a good deal.

Enter $1.00 samples of Mixed Chicks Leave In (yellow) and deep conditioner (white). I'm guesstimating that these are about .5 oz. I've used the deep conditioner 3 times and still have well over half left and I've used the leave in 5 or 6 times and there's about a quarter of it left.

The end result is that the deep conditioner is a'ight at best. NTM hair mask blows it out of the water as far as leaving my hair feeling moisturized after it dries.

The Mixed Chicks Leave In left my hair coated, frizzy, crunchy and dull.

These pictures were taken under the same light with the same flash. I also followed my normal wash/condition/airdry regimen with the only difference being the leave-in used.

I never knew it was possible to get shrinkage from frizz, but that's pretty much what happened here. Also my hair is jet black with a gray hair here or there but it almost looks like the leave in dried opaque on my hair so it looks off black.

I've tried using these products in a few different ways/combinations but my philosophy is that if I have to 'doctor' a product to make it work for me then it doesn't have a place in my regimen.

You have beautiful hair!!!!! If it didn't work for you that's all good at least u didn't spend too much on it!!!!

Thanks for the review. I've read similar reviews about Mixed Chicks products not being very moisturizing and simply leaving the hair coated.

I like your updo with the Flexi 8 in the very last pic. Pretty hair.

ETA: lol, at this title!

I agree Crackers if I have to work to hard to make a product work then it just not for me. Btw your hair is looking great!:yep:

Wow. Absolutely Gorgeous!!! You sure you relaxed? How'd you achieve that curl affect? Mines always comes out with a tight wave but never a curl.

I have tried them to....my hair HATED the leave in. I tried and tied and tried to make it work because it is super expensive, but I finally threw it away.

My stylists rushes the relaxer through my new growth so it comes out with a loosened curl pattern instead of straight.

I agree. I can actually smell the alcohol in their products. I got excited and bought several bottles of their leave-in and shampoo - they remain unopened under my bathroom sink. Wayyy too drying for my hair.

Honestly based on name alone I wouldn't have tried this product for the full price cuz I figured it wasn't for me anyhow.

But for a dolla'.....

You have beautiful hair..you didn't need that stuff anyway, but I guess we wouldn't know unless you tried it :look: thanks for the review!

I had the EXACT same experience with MC Leave-in. It made my hair a dry, frizzy, opaque, dulled-out mess...:nono:

I ended up giving it away...

WnG Shingled with Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding:

WnG Shingled with MC Leave-In: :perplexed

You be the judge:look:...:lachen:

ETA: I compared MC with MJ bc they both contain cones (and parabens, I think), although Miss Jessies has the water soluble cones in their curly pudding...i.e.,dimethicone copolyol or PEG/PPG-manufactured silicones

I've seen as many great product raves as Not so great, didn't work for me/hated it vent for Mixed Chicks I guess it's again a product works for 1 person and not for another.
A lot of people raved about Miss Jessie's and it didn't work for me, it left my hair greasy, weighted down and crunchy, and took forever to dry, and my hair loves cones, so I didn't get it and I tried and tried, I had bought 2 of that expensive pudding. The only thing I kind of liked was the baby buttercreme, but I think that's cause of the yummy smell.
Same with Carol's Daughter left my hair super greasy, and weighted down. I sold them.

I agree, it's trail and error. MC was def on my error list :ohwell:

Nothing like experimenting to find out what your hair likes! Now you know. BTW, your hair is thick and lushious!

I got a sample from a BSS when I was picking up some nail polish and other stuff.....Am I the only one who's irked by the name?

I don't see anything wrong with the name, it represents them the founders of the product and they want to appeal to all "mixed" cultures/races.

I had the same results too! Coated, crunchy, greyish looking hair. I was so mad. I put my fist in the air and started singing 'We Shall Overcome' as I threw that mess away.
