when needed a touch up? Also, does your ends look... um weird?? :perplexed

I have notice that my hair appear shorter, i guess, or in some places looks the same length. Although, I have I had a virgin texlaxed job (with phyto) April 30th of this year. I havent notice any breakage. Currently I have wig with 3 big braids under it, which I spray my nu gro spray and apply my mn everynight. Only thing I notice really is thicker roots and it is xtra, xtra hard to part. I don't know, I was trying to stretch til Dec., dont know if I should texlaxed or just wait out because everything will be fine... i think :&

It def looks shorter, but the ends tend to look the same. I mean I do alot of braidouts and bunning the weeks b4 relaxing , so maybe thats why

My hair looks shorter once i get past that 4 week mark..plus the fact that i'm slightly texlaxed adds to the shrinkage.

yes it does. Combined with the fact that I'm not relaxed bone straight, I'm underprocessed in some areas and I have been airdrying lately.

^^^ Thank for the reassurement. I was really starting to worry, and texlax early so I can see what it really going on, but no need to. I will wait Dec. Thanx again

I agree with everyone who posted about the shrinkage many weeks post relaxing. For me, this normally happens around week 5. If you really need to check if something is wrong, before relaxing, simply flat iron it first with a gentle heat - not too hot.

Yes...I'm experiencing that now! My hair looks shoulder...and it should be right at APL...its like my hair rises! LOL...That is why I will be rocking a "Southerntease bun" or braidout until 10.17, my retouch!

I'm going through this right now. I'm at week 5 and my hair looks like it's drawing up. I'm going to wash, condition, blow out and flat iron tomorrow and see how it looks, but I've been air drying and I know that's part of it. My hair gets very wavy at the roots with no heat and I'm sure that's the culprit. Hang on OP.

THANK YOU OP for this thread !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought I was going crazy. I did a photo update on my hair 2 weeks ago(10weeks post)and noticed its was shorter. I didnt even download it cuz I did not want to see it and be discouraged. I swear it look like I lost 2 inches!!!. Thank you ladies!!!!!

Me too! I've had a trim that I'm not happy with, so I'm really hoping this is the case since I'm 6 weeks post.

Thank for posting this topic. After I washed my hair last night, I thought it looked a bit shorter, but I attributed it to my NG. Good to know that it wasn't just my imagination! :)

yep, this always happens with me. after about 4 weeks post, my hair starts appearing shorter. also, around that time, i stop blow-drying and using heat, so my hair is generally poofier.

Yeah, My hair draws up something fierce, but I kinda like it :look:

As long as you're not seeing bits and pieces of hair everywhere you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Yes! I'm 18 wks post (stretching for 24 wks) and it looks much shorter and I know I have a ton of new growth. My hair also appears thinner to me until I relax--I guess b/c it's being compared to the ubber-thick new growth

Yup, I'm stretching 6 months and i'll be texlaxing this weekend actually and my hair always looks shorter the more newgrowth I have. It is just past shoulder length, but freshly texlaxed it's about an inch past BSL...I thought it was just me, LOL!

Mine definitely does...I like to stretch for about 12-14 weeks, and by the time I'm ready to relax, my hair has lost like two inches. Sometimes, I panic and feel like crying, because I think that my hair broke off. And it doesn't help that my ends always start looking so weird and raggedy.

What helps me is just bunning constantly. That way, I don't see my ends or my length, and then I don't worry about it as much. And when I relax my hair, I get a nice little surprise. Yayy...

I stretch 12-16 weeks depending on what time of year it is. I hate it because I rarely ever see my length because of shrinkage, only 3-4 relaxers yearly.
