Okay Ladies, I'm at a party, and I have to post this. I'm talking to a young lady who is in hair school and she tells me that she is natural, yet she relaxs her hair once per year.

Wth? Has anyone heard this? What gives?

She must be using that Mega Super relaxer, that leaks through to the brain cells into the area that confuses relaxed vs. natural! :lachen:

Ummmmm....:lachen::lachen::lachen:

Okkkkkkkkk, poor baby:lachen:

Co-sign.

She just doesn't know any better.

Bless her heart...I have a friend who thinks just because it's time for a retouch and her newgrowth is starting to takeover, that she's natural. You are right, they don't know any better.

Let's give the girl a break. Her hair maybe 2 -3 inches long, if so, she is natural. lol!

Okay, I exited again to re-post. I told her that what she described wasn't natural. And she insisted that it was, I re-insisted the opposite. Well, she decided to stop talking to me. A lot of time I don't correct ignorance, but a hair student telling me she's natual when she's relaxed was too much.

:look:....Oh baby...you just about as relaxed as I am! So lost and confused....She's probably "texlaxed"....

lol
My first thought was that she is using "natural" to to describe that its all her hair no extensions/weave.Guess not.

LOL, I just had that EXACT SAME argument w/ my friend about 3 days ago. I told her, I accidentally transitioned for about a year and my hair was all natural by the time I cut it. Then she goes " Oh yea, I know what you're talking bout, when I took out my braids for school, my hair kept frizzing up because it TURNED natural". THAT, THAT RIGHT THERE, triggered the argument on the train (LIRR for New Yorkers). It came to the point that I was like -______- alright, alright, you're right, your hair just happened to turn back to its REAL texture, because only you (insert name here), have magic hair.

AFTER THAT EVERYONE AROUND US STARTED LAUGHING...LOL.

Man she's in hair school so she must be right. :look: I'd actually ignore someone if they said that cuz explaining would be too much drama.

Honestly, there are a lot of people that think like her. I used to argue with folks alot who said the opposite....they don't have a perm/relaxer because they haven't had one in x months. I used to try to explain your relaxer just doesn't revert, you have to cut it out. I don't even say anything anymore.....just say 'ok'.

OMG
I was about to say that MAYBE she is just confusing Relaxer with straighten the hair once a year, But :nono:

Well I know a lot of texlaxers claiming natural...you know they loosen the curl a bit....to each his own and all that good stuff......I guess

I tell you it's just amazing. I know folks that think the same too. :nono:

I think what upsets me most about situations like this, is the fact that it is this general unwillingness to learn something new (when approached in a respectful manner) that keeps information about better hair care practices from spreading as fast as it should.

You're right. How are you natural if you ever put a relaxer in. Once it's in, there is no more natural. How people don't understand nor want to hear that, I will never know.

Maybe...just maybe, her relaxed ends break off from stretching so long, so by the middle of the year she's all natural? I'm really hoping she isn't that clueless.

ok - am i the only one wondering how long and what state her hair is in since she does 11/12 month stretches? :look:

i mean her ignorance aside....this is a hair forum and as a certified longterm stretcher i'm more focused on biznass lol

what her hair look like? :detective:

if u say it looks crazy in sprite of her stretching and being in beauty school...then i will start :lachen::lachen::lachen:like everyone else.
