So I bc'ed today (again). This is my second time going natural so I sort of have an idea what my hair doesn't like. I haven't tried Oyin or Qhemet, but I'm tempted to order a few samples. Would you recommend those lines. or what would you recommend.

My hair wasn't a fan of Hair rules of KCCC when i was a natural before, so I guess we can count those out.

Well the only thing I can say for sure is a staple (as in used consistently for a year) is coconut oil. I've been using it since summer of 2008 and I continue to find new uses for it. I use it as a prepoo/detangler/sealer/"moisturizer"/etc. etc.

From Oyin I'd recommend the honey hemp conditioner. It can be used as a cowash, moisturizer/leave-in, detangler, and a deep conditioner base. I've also used it with a bit of baking soda and it really cleaned my hair well. It's great for moisture and now they have it in a 32oz size.

Also from Oyin I'd recommend the whipped pudding and the juices and berries. J&B is great for the scalp (keeps it moisturized and healthy) and it's a great spray moisturizer (though it's not heavy duty). If you follow it with the whipped pudding your hair will feel soft and moisturized for days (or at least mine did).

I think Aubrey Organics White Camellia is going to become a staple for me. I've been using it for a couple months and I really like it. It does have a high oil content so if your hair doesn't like that, then you may want to avoid it. It really is a great conditioner and can also be used to detangle and to moisturize (when diluted with water).

Congrats on your second BC!

My staples: shea butter, and I no-poo with a cheapo conditioner at the moment. When I do shampoo it's Creme of Nature (with the yellow cap) and deep condition with ORS Hair Mayo, when I remember to :) I've been also using Kids Organics hair cream to moisturise my ends.

Please note - I am an extremely cheap person. I can tell you right now that never have and likely never will try any product you mentioned, OP, b/c they cost to dang much.

Faves:
Suave Tropical Coconut
Aussie Moist (But Suave is far and away my absolute fave)
Vatika or Coconut Oil - esp mixed with Olive Oil
Aloe Vera Gel/Glycerine/Rosewater magnificance aka moisturizing spritz
Castor Oil
EcoStyler - when and if I use Gel, which isn't very often

To DC:
Coconut Milk, Cream & Oil
Honey
Lustrasilk Shea Butter Mango or Aloe Vera (as a base)
Yogurt
Baking Soda or Salt

whatever else is in my cabinent that is a natural oil I'll throw in there....I also like to add when avail ORS Replenishing Pak, Jherri Redding 100% protein, Aphogee 2 minute treatment or GVP Joico Recovery

I don't use any serums unless I straighten - and that's Sabino.

^^ when I use shampoo I used GVP Nexxus Aloe Rid mixed with Fantasia IC Pure Tea diluted with water in an application bottle.

Congratulations on your BC :clapping:.
I’m currently transitioning to natural and use Qhemet Biologics’s Olive & Honey Hydrating Balm and Qhemet Biologics’s Burdock Root Butter Cream; The moisturising combination of the Qhemet Biologics product’s works wonderfully for my hair; it feel’s soo soft and hydrated all day. I also use Oyin Honey Hemp Conditioner as a leave-in after washing, it smells amazing and my hair feels soft once air-dried.

Thanks guys so it seems like Qyin HH Con. is a must buy
the juices and berries sounds delish...I like the name

Soleil well they seem to be working fine....I'm a firm believer in "If it ain't broke..." How do you use the honey to DC?

I love Qhemet and Oyins line and would have to say they are my staples. Qhemet moreso than Oyin.

Today I did a wash and go and applied Qhemets Cocoa tree detangling ghee along with aloe vera gel and my coils were defined and soft all day. I love Qhemets honeybush soft hold gel for doing twist outs.

The whipped pudding is delish and can be used on body too. I also like the Juices and Berries and shampoo bar and want to try the honey hemp.

I only use natural products & try to keep it as simple as possible

Daily moisturise with spritz of 100% organic rosewater.
Seal in moisture with homemade oil concoction and oil scalp as needed.

Condition wash with diluted Aubrey Organics White Camelia during the week.

Hot Oil Treatment twice a month on dry hair with heat for 30 minutes. (First add organic virgin coconut oil to hair the night before)
- Week 2: Mixture of Aubrey Organics HSR, Raw Castor Oil & Organic Honey and Organic molasses if needed
- Week 4: Mixture of Aubrey Organics GBP, Raw Castor Oil & Organic Honey.

Fortnightly
Shampoo with Aubrey Organics White Camellia or Black soap
Deep condition with Aubrey Organics White Camellia.
ACV rinse with added organic tea tree & lavender essential oils

Every few weeks: Clarify with Bicarbonate of soda

Plan to use Aubrey Organics Blue Green Hair Rescue Mask twice a year as a strong protein treatment

I just add a good squeeze or two into a creamy base like the Lustrasilk. Typically I would add all those things on my DC list all together to make one concoction and then DC with that. :look:

I just want to tell you that I purchased White Camellia because of what you said in a thread a few weeks ago, and this is now one of my staple products. For some reason, the other AO Conditioner that everyone talks about, Honeysuckle Rose, didn't suit my hair, but the White Camellia did and I think it's because of the oils in it.

My staples are as follows:
1. Qhemet Biologics Amla and Olive Heavy Cream
2. Qhemet Biologics Burdock Root Butter Cream
3. Qhemet Biologics Cocoa Tree Detangling Ghee (this is one of the best leave-in conditioners I've ever used :yep:)
4. Elucence Moisture Benefits Shampoo
5. Elucence Volume Clarifying Shampoo
6. Elucence Moisture Balancing Conditioner
7. Aubrey Organics White Camellia
8. Joico KPak Leave-in Reconstructor (a great protein treatment)
9. Oyin Handmade Honey Hemp Conditioner - used for daily co-washes
10. Oyin Handmade Burnt Sugar Pomade - used to seal
11. Lustrasilk Shea Butter Cholesterol Plus Conditioner - a lifelong staple, I must say
12. Miss Jessies Rapid Recovery Treatment

I co-wash daily and use the Qhemet products to moisturize. The truth of the matter is that when I use Qhemet, I don't need to co-wash every day. I just like doing it. :look:

I hope you don't mind the long list list. I wanted to be as comprehensive as possible.

Thanks guys, I'm going to Trader Joe's this wknd. I'll check to see if they have any AO products

I don't think they carry AO. But you could try out the TJ's Nourish Spa shampoo and conditioner. Lots of people love that on here and it's like 2$ a bottle. The conditioner can also be left in.

i use mainly commercial things, only because that works out better for me and my budget.
Shampoo: Aussie Moist
Conditioner/DC: Aussie Moist, Queen Helene's Cholesterol-sometimes adding a bit of baking soda
leave-in/moisturizer: Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship, Cantu (still undecided about this)
Castor Oil for sealing ends, and oiling my scalp
Protein: yogurt and egg mixture
Heat Protectant: Fantasia IC-the pink bottle

Just popping in to highly highly recommend Jason Naturals conditioners :yep: Sea Kelp was always my favorite, and made my hair super soft and moisturized (also smells nice). I also really liked the Biotin (minty and tingly on your scalp) and Lavender ones (Strengthening -- when used consistently it does wonders for elasticity).
You can find Jason at most health food stores and on many online stores.

I'm a new natural so still looking for my staples (in the back of my closet:grin:). Here's what I like so far:

Shampoo and Conditioner: Yes to Carrots.:lick: Washed with it yesterday. Very creamy and moisturizing.

Clarifying Shampoo: Kinky Curly Come Clean. Cleaned my hair, but it didn't completely strip it. Only used it once, so I may have to amend this one.

Detangler: Kinky Curly Knot Today. Good detangler, gives great springiness and definition to coils, which are longer on top. I gave my bottle to my sister who is experimenting too, and promptly got another for myself the same day. I've been using this since I BC'ed and I still like it.

Not a staple yetDeep Cond: Miss Jessie's Rapid Recovery Treatment. this sucka ain't cheap!. Used a golfball size of it yesterday. Very Creamy, thick consistency. It spread very nicely through my hair. Made my hair soft on contact and my detangling comb went right through it (then again with a TWA, my comb goes through pretty quickly anyway:grin:). Its still in my hair so I dunno if my hair will be a happy soldier once its rinsed out, but I'll update. The price is also a turnoff, but I really like the instant softness. Once I get through this, I will look into the Jessicurl Weekly Deep Treatement.
