I know right ?!?! Someone on here introduced me to her last year, but I haven't checked on her lately. That hair and that talent...NOT FAIR!!!

Yeah, I've been digging her for a while. Her hair is fierce and her work makes a compelling case for musical intelligence - she's studied her art and it definitely shows.

I agree. The last time I heard someone new who impressed me as much was when Rachelle Ferrell first hit the scene. Though her earlier facial expressions used to make me cringe, that changed quickly and listening to her became just...heaven. Dianne Reeves too...

Ledisi too...

Great googly moogly!!!! :thud:

I think I'm gonna create a shrine to her hair, wake up in the morning and call her your gloriousness every day:lol:....... lawd:lick: I just wanna fall asleep in her hair! When my fro gets that big you cant tell me nothin:cool2: I LOVE the way her 4a coils are completely in tact and unaltered!!! OMG! *faints*

I love this post!!!! Fall asleep in her hair....that's the best description of what I felt...like you were in my brain and made words I couldn't think of at the time.

LOL@ "creating a shrine to her hair."

:lachen::lachen::lachen: but :grin::grin::grin: too.

I love her hair! Thanks for sharing OP! :)

I wish I were courageous enough to wear my hair like this for a few days....but the single strand knots would be the end of me. I just started getting them last month or so, and I have to KEEP my hair twisted or in twistouts to avoid them.

I did my first dusting and they are all gone now...but I don't want them again.

Her hair makes me so envious....and I wish I were onstage somewhere too....

*sigh*

She's a wonderful inspiration for women of color and for music!

She was featured in a magazine recently, I cant remember which one though. But....she did go on and on about how she likes for her hair to just be free. She emphasizes that she tries not to be overly-concerned with what she puts in her hair. I will try to find the article so I can be more exact with her exact verbiage. It was great to read :)

Okay...that I find a little hard to believe. No single strand knots for her? I wonder what her texture is. I could not tell from the show she was doing. 3b? 4a? I can't tell, though I did see her with a curly style once and can't recall where I saw it.

How can you have such beautiful hair that seems to be so well maintained and NOT be concerned with what you put in it? I'd love to read that article. I have a ridiculously simple regimen, but I am concerned with the little reggie I have.

Wouldn't it be nice to go to bed and wake up with her hair for just a little while? I wonder what my husband would say if I woke up with a cloud of hair....*musing*

If you look at her Banana Republic commercials on the right side of her myspace page they do many closeups pf her texture and its clear she's a 4a however I think she may have the silky kind, the kind that will slick down or gel down in a second. I think ladies that have that kind may be a bit less prone to the SSK's then 4a coily's like me who have hair that will never slick down and has a tendency to be dry:yep:

You know, someone (not me though!) should really start doing short hair interviews with some of these fantastic people. Maybe an interview thread or something. Just a thought.

O. EM. GEE. When she bobbed her head and her fro waved in the breeze.... :look: I peed a little bit.

:lachen::lachen::lachen:That was worthy of a Saturday Night Live short. You are so silly...but sad to say I know what you mean. I didn't pee, but I thought about it. lol

DesiRae: I was wondering the same thing. Of course we don't see her hair all the time, but the shows she does give me the impression (however false) that her hair is down all the time. I am sure that she protective styles. Then again....I have met the rare ethnic haired woman who does nothing remarkable to her hair and it grows despite the fact that it is worn down, lose, gets heat all the time, etc. I've only met one of those though...

pmichael52172: I am not one who reads any periodicals. I might pick up People magazine twice a year, but if someone did a magazine just devoted to healthy hair care practices, I would have a subscription...immediately. I would like to see both famous women and women no one knows...from, Ruby, SC or someplace equally random. It would have to be a magazine that understands that it's readership likes to see texture shots, wet and dry shots, and maybe even have a column that follows someone's length progression for 2 years. I would definitely buy. Today!

luckiestdestiny: be careful. When someone on here first presented her to us, I went and downloaded a lot of her music from iTunes. Watch your pocket! Honestly, I don't think I listened to anyone else for at least a couple of weeks after purchasing her music.

luckiestdestiny: I am officially confused now with textures and hair typing. More and more, I am seeing that nothing fits into any kind of neat category. I like that diversity about our hair and don't like it at the same time because it takes so much to understand our hair....hrmph!
