I sometimes enjoy the non-shiny look

I know it's not the commonly desired goal, but I sometimes enjoy the look of my hair when it looks really tight, kinky, matte , nappy! I especially like looking at pictures when my hair looks like this. It looks so . . . textured.:yep:

Like these 2 coils buns I did. I deep conditioned, washed, added leave-in conditioner and oil and did the buns on the still wet hair. Even wet and with oil, with no flash my hair looks so matte. It's like I'm impressed with my own level of nappiness. :lachen: Sometimes I really like this look.

Might I be the only one who admires this look on themselves?

Nope! I love it too! My hair is textured - and being able to see the texture makes my hair feel/look more 'alive', somehow.

OMG those are my double buns i wear those too...your hair is so cute! I like the matte look when i wear my hair in a puff.

Gosh your hair is so nice and thick and loooong. I can't wait to do "Chun li" buns like yours.. :lachen:
It looks great on you and yes, there is something about that not so shiny, highly textured hair that looks great. I especially love when it's pulled back and the hair is loose in the back, like in a big chunky twistout puff or the like.

Your hair is gorgeous...matte, shiny, textured, straight...I have not seen a style on you that doesn't work.

I do love this style, though!

I like my hair when there is no shine too...my WNG puff is texture for days...

It's the only look I know for my hair and I'm so at home with it, hence the reason I would never go out of my way to find styling products that add shine. That's not me. Has never been me, and since I don't try to make my hair do what other hairs do, pfft.

BTW, I love the do, Mwedzi. The only thing I'd change is the parting. :giggle: I'd try to make it a bit straighter. I may not get it perfect but I'd do better than that.

Sowwy. It's the truf and I can tell you coz I wuv you and know you would tell me too.

mwedzi, anything you do with your hair looks fab, shiney, matte, what have you, your hair is a dream:infatuated:

My hair tends to have some shine to it, even when I wear it coily. I think its because its such a dark shade of brown naturally:scratchch

Nah, see, I can roll with that. I do that too. But chica, you only had ONE part to do. ONE! You coulda humored me one solid! I even stopped asking for a Bernie Mac, just a straight part when doing such a hawt do, please! :giggle:

Okay, I may do it just for you! Only because you let the Bernie Mac go. :giggle: I want you to recognize that that one part is still going to take me an extra 10-15 minutes. I'll expect an "ooo" with at least 4 'o's from you! That's actually why if you look through my fotki you'll notice few styles that require parting, especially as time goes on. It's just too much work.

mwedzi, your bun 'do is really cute!

I love matte-look hair. There's a part of me that regrets folks work so hard at making their hair shine.

I don't mind crooked parts, either, but then I'm a known hair anarchist.

I'm impressed with your "level of nappiness" too! :notworthy: I hope to achieve this level for myself one day. The do and your earrings are cute!

:lachen: love it! If you put that on a t-shirt, i'd buy it! :yep:

Thanks. They are quite fun. What do you use to hold yours?

Chun li? Is that the Street Fighter character?

Yeah, the textured puff is loverly.

thanks so much! Your hair is sheeny. My hair is dark brown, too, but maybe not as dark.

I'm with you! Even when I was relaxed, I didn't like the super shiny look. Now, I don't ever worry about shine or sheen.

Isn't it nice? Your relaxed hair was fairly shiny, though, in the healthy way, not in the plastered down way. You just couldn't help it. :)

I'm impressed with your "level of nappiness" too! :notworthy: I hope to achieve this level for myself one day. The do and your earrings are cute!

You can do it. Find the nappiness within! :giggle: I don't think we've ever seen your hair?? Anyway, thank you. Got the earrings on etsy.

I love it! We will unite in hair rebellion!

:giggle: Thanks. You got it! I might even ask to use your pic beside mine in the siggy.

And I can respect the amount of work it'd take to create a part in your hair and why you don't bother. Which is why you have long hair and I don't, thanks to little mani. I'm getting there slowly. I never thought I'd ever imagine braiding or twisting without using a comb to part. But I do. :yay:

I love all your dos and rarely notice the absence of a part. And I love your free spirit. I just wanna see this particular do with a straight part. I'll sleep better when I do. :p And thank you. :Rose:

I love it as well :] One of the things I love about natural hair is when i want the sheeniness I can have it, and when I want the matte fluffiness I can have that too. I think there was a phase when I first went natural when i was all about the curl definition.. These days I'll have weeks when I forget what my curl pattern even looks like, and fine by me.

I'm in senegalese/kinky twists right now though ;-; But I'll be happy when the fluffiness is back.

I can understand why. It's what I imagined my hair would look like unrelaxed, so far not so much, lol. I think of your hair as "classically kinky" if that makes sense. Classic and beautiful.
