the braidout when you prepare for bed?

Do you rebraid every night? If so, are they cornrowed? Or in single plaits?

Do you remoisturize? With what?

Do you seal? With what?

I was doing the braiding with single praits every night and remoisturizing with Shea Butter but it got annoying really fast. So now I'm half-wiggy it. I might combine both later on. But, other than that it was single praits. Oh and just now sealing with EVOO

I agree. It can get annoying. I am worried about the manipulation.

I'm glad I'm not the only now. I'm always worried about the manipulation when doing braidouts especially since it's braiding and unbraiding in the morning. I"m sure the hair doesn't like it. I just prefer to do it every blue moon now and just stick with the instant weaves and phony ponies for now for less manipulation.

I was braiding every night. It was too much manipulation for me. It knotted and I was always losing alot of hair.

I usually pile my hair atop my head and secure it with a large duckbill clip and cover with a bonnet. In the morning I remove the pin and everything falls back down and I moisturize with a little NTM and Vatika oil. Every hair stays in place. My braidouts last about 5 days this way.

Jerseygurl, I like your technique but I sleep my badly my hair might still come out a mess.

I basically do this, but the short hair version :yep:

I very lightly oil it and clip it up with duckbill clips at night.

In the morning I take out the clips, run a little bit of water/moisturizer, then a few drops of coconut oil through it.

I run a little creamy moisturizer over it, tie it gently with a scarf, and then cover it with a satin bonnet. I rebraid every third night.

Girl sometimes my bonnet be on the other side of the bed:lachen::lachen::lachen:but this method works great for me, try it and see how it works for you. I got tired of the whole rebraiding so I decided to do this method. I do it for my rollersets too

Works like a charm:yep:

Right now I'm rocking 2 french braids moisturized with a s-curl/water mix and sealed with coconut oil, ends rolled on satin rollers. I plan on doing this nightly unless I start seeing damage.

I moisten with my moisturising spritz, and put hair back in 5 cornrows.

It is not too much manipulation for my hair... I usually only wear my curly styles for 2-3 days only because I cowash 3-4 times a week.

Thanks Neith. Loves me some coconut oil......

MummysGirl, your braidout in your siggy is

Sounds like a good method I'm going to try tonight since I just untwisted my fresh braid-out this morning. Can I aska question, what is a duckbil clip? Do you have a picture? I know I should know but I'm not sure what your referring to. Thanks!

Great idea, I'm going to try this the next time I do a braidout :yep:...

I normally moisturize w/ Nexxus Humectress and seal w/ EVOO then re-braid nightly which is more manipulation than I'm comfortable with

Braid out in two cornrows everynight. Moisturize length to ends with water based moisturizer, sealing the ends with an oil base.

Aww, man....

Now I'm worried about manipulation!

I guess I will have to try jerseygurl's method next time, although I don't notice any knots or hair coming out. But there is always a better way to do everything....thanks jerseygurl!

Every night I mist down my hair with plain water , I then add cantu shea butter conditioner especially on my ends, followed up with ever gel strikes my fancy (fantisa, or a gels from qhemet, Jane Carter, Afroveda whatever), I then braid my hair in about 6 braids and roll the ends up on satin covered rollers. The next morning I take it down and run a little coconut oil or through especially the ends.

It looks and feels great, but honestly bunning was so much simpler. But my face is shall we say not suited for buns (read fat face and big head) and I like the braid outs so much better.

Does anyone have a suggestion to simplify my nightly routine? I cannot do the whole pin it up and and slap a bonnet on it routine as I am a wild sleeper and I sweat a lot at night (TMI). I've tried it and failed.

This is what I do.

I put a little moisturizer on my hands and then grab a big section and do a loose big braid. It's usually a total of about 5-6 braids. No combing--just grab a section and braid. I then cover with a satin bonnet and hit the sheets. Doing this has allowed my braidouts (and twistouts) last for more than a week if I want it to.

You might have to go the rebraiding route.

Girl there's no manipulation, I just shake my head and everything falls in place. I lightly rub my leave-ins on the curls and fluff it a bit if it's too flat for me.

Just wanted to re-post. Using these clips (I also used a few big plastic clips that I use to separate my hair) are the bomb. I can't believe how easy of a solution it is/was. This thread was a hair saver for me. I wish I would have known this the first time I went natural. I actually ended up relaxing becuase I couldn't get any hair style to last more than two days. Thanks for starting this thread. The technique worked like a charm!

I really need help with braidouts :perplexed!!! Whenever I did them, my ends were become dry and brittle regardless of the moisturizers and oils I use. Not sure why but I could not do them. :nono:

Wish I could though bc I think it's soooo cute! :yep:

Do you rebraid every night? If so, are they cornrowed? Or in single plaits?

Do you remoisturize? With what?

Do you seal? With what?

I rebraid every night in 4-6 single plaits. Then put on a satin scarf or bonnet.
I remoisturize with water and seal my hair with either safflower oil or Dax pomade.
This hair routine has been working great for me! Moisture, softness, and definition! :yay:
