Hair serums n natural hair

I used to use serums to lock in moisture in my hair in my second year on the forum when I wore twists...but I hated the effort needed to remove them when I had to moisturize my hair, coz just as they locked moisture in, they also locked any additional moisture out.

Now I only use them to seal my hair when I flat iron so it doesn't get affected by moisture in the air. If I get shine, that's just a bonus but not the reason I do it. I don't know why but I've never been obsessed with having shiny hair so I have never used anything to enhance it.

I don't. But, when I went to get my hair cut in earlier this year the stylist used the Mixed Chicks serum. Actually she used all of their products and my hair came out great. I did purchase all the products since my hair was looking all fly when I left LOL! Of course, I couldn't replicate and I ended up swapping on the boards!! I typically use gels or my beloved Castor Oil for shine!! A lot cheaper and healthier ingredients as well!

am asking this because i tried the ic fantasia olive serum on my wet hair, my hair was silky soft even when it air dried. i loved it.

When I first went natural I tried it and the results weren't all that great.. For shine and softness oil over leave in conditioner of some sort (I like Giovanni direct.. a lot) can't be beat at all for me. I especially love castor oil. I currently use a blend castor and jojoba and coconut, and its pretty fantastic. I've tried mixing it all together (the leave ins and the oils) and layering it I think I prefer to layer it, though I did put a small dollop of Nature's Gate Nourishing hemp conditioner in my oil blend as well.

I'm going to the hair store today; I've added the bolded to my shopping list. :lachen:

On a side note, I use coconut/olive oil for moisturizing purposes, but it adds great shine as well.

i dont..since they mainly contain cones..myhair hates those
i use melted shea butter or coconut oil for shine
