I can't finish this 16 week stretch... I just can't. :lachen: I've been taking 5000 mg daily of biotin to get these last 3 inches to APL by the end of the year and my hair is growing like crazy. My new growth gets all tangled and makes my head big. :nono:

I like to use to use Pantene's R&N DC mask and try to get it to my roots, but it really doesn't do anything. Besides, flat-ironing it, what else can I do to at least try to get to 12 weeks? :drunk:

Yeah, I got a sew-in earlier this year and got to 19 weeks. I will consider that when I get my funds on the first of the month. :yep:

silk elements moisturizing conditioner, it detangled my hair and my last stretch was 30 something weeks I think. detangled like nobody's business, and made blowdrying very easy.

keeping it simple always works for me, sometimes after I wash and condition I'll bun and tie my hair down so the edges are nice and flat and I wear my hair like that until my next wash...

i'll look for that today and try it. :yep: I'm going to do some bantu knots/twist outs.

Hang in there! You can do this, really you can. It's a matter of giving yourself enough time to detangle (carefully), condition (deeply), and checking the moisture/protein (balance) as often as your hair needs it. Unfortunately there's no shortcut to managability when you're doing long term stretches. Try not to rush through the stretch, but think about how much healthier your hair will be at the end of it.

Butterfly08 recommended Redken Butter Treat, and it worked magic on my hair this week at 21 weeks post. I highly recommend it. My hair felt like silk.

I concur. Silk Elements MegaSilk Moisturizing Conditioner.
Have you tried the Tie-down method when its wet?

Take a good moisturising conditioner and apply it like a relaxer on dry hair. Cover with a plastic bag/saran wrap and then a towel for at least 1 hour. Result: soft, detangled roots.

I regularly stretch for 12 weeks and have gone as long as 6 months before.

This is a good thread. I'm on about week 16, but I'm cheating with the BKT in between. These tips apply to me because when the BKT starts wearing off I'm looking like :hair:

For my stretches, I bun until I can't take the manipulation anymore, then braids sees me through until the end of the stretch. Hang in there, you'll be amazed at the added thickness and length when you finally relax.
