Stupid, stupid, stupid! I could kick myself. Something told me to pace myself when using this MN stuff. This is the 2nd day that Ive applied it and Ive thrown up twice this morning! I feel HORRIBLE!! I dont think I can do this anymore. I had no clue that I would be so sensitive to it. I feel like Ive gotta throw up again right now.:nono: uuugggghhh
No more growth aids for me unless its natural.

Had you ever used it for a yeast infection?

I really want to caution people to be careful in using medicine in ways it was not intended for and not tested for. In addition to it not being tested for use on your scalp, the scalp is a whole lot bigger than the area of your vulva that is likely to be suffering from yeast infections, which means the dosage you'll be getting by applying it to your scalp is 3, 4, 5 times greater than what it was likely tested for.

Anyway, I know that some people cut their mn with oil to lessen side effects like headaches :perplexed, which I think is another way of lowering the dosage. Please don't take medicinal use, especially for something it's not intended for, lightly. If you do do it, yes, proceed with caution!

This sounds very extreme as a side-effect for MN use. Think again and see if you used anything else or ate anything else you don't normally use or eat.

But if you are convinced it is the MN then wash it out ASAP.
Have you washed it out? i think you should

I'm going to co-sign this because I am one of those folks who has to cut it with oil to avoid headaches. For me it's 1 oz. oil + 5 oz. MN and I'm good. I'm just a bit surprised at the puking because that is not a side effect people have reported from that product.

hmmmm... that's not a side effect anyone else has ever mentioned. Are you sure it's the MN?

unfortunately theres been more than a few other ppl who've mentioned that this could be one of the side effects, along with headaches and lighteheadedness. I thought I would continue use because I didnt see those side effects the first couple times I applied:blush: *sigh* as soon as I get home I washin this mess off! :nono:

I'm sorry hear you're not feeling good, but are you sure it's the MN? I used it with coconut oil (and it didn't grow my hair any faster), and I might've only had a tingly scalp. It's really not worth it in my opinion. Beauty is pain, but not like that honey!!

Feel better soon!!

Heres one of the links I found where a few ppl said they got sick

Thanks for ur input ladies!

I'm sorry that this is happening to you! I've actually used it straight O_O and no side effects.

You said you used it a couple of times and now suddenly you're throwing up? That's kinda strange...anywhoo, you should definitely wash it out and I hope you feel better soon!

MN gave me a splitting headache/nauseousness and I'd mixed it with Sulfur 8 and Olive oil.

I'm sorry it's not worth it if you're side effects are bad. I jumped on this bandwagon when I was pretty new to hair boards, when I was posting on BHM.

Sorry that happened. I will never use MN again because I reacted to it by having the worst headaches, 2 days in a row. I stopped and never went back.

It works out fine for a lot of ladies here... not for me.

I was so excited to get started!! uuugghh! Oh well different strokes for different folks I guess

I am a dentist, and a drug not used for its intended purpose can have negative responses such as these. Personally I think using it in this fashion is going way too far.

FINALLY.............. Someone smart enough to tell people NOT to USE VAGINAL cream on your head!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Thank you Dr. Chevelure!

*hee hee* :lachen: Id be the 2nd Virgin Mary! ( Im not married and dont believe in sex b4 marriage)

I couldn't remember if I saw y ou in the TTC thread - I'm horrriiibbble with screennames. :lachen:

Well, then, yeah, I'd stay away from the MN, then.

Everything isn't intended to go on our heads. From ur pic u look like u have a beautiful head of hair. Just be patient and it'll get to where u want it to be. If this is the only thing new that you have introduced to ur body then I would suggest u stop using it.

OP, I hope that you feel better soon!:perplexed

I was thinking as I read this that you should not rule out the possiblity of an allergic reaction, especially since you have never used this medication before for its' intended purpose.

I encourage you to see your doctor if the symptoms continue after you wash your hair.

Be well!

The medicine can be used vaginally or topically for fungal infections of the skin. There is nothing special about the vaginal cream except that it is probably formulated to be less irritating for the vaginal area. Some people act as if it has vaginal components in the cream. People this or other anti-fungals on their scalp for mild fungal infections of the scalp, ex ringworm in children. It is not dangerous but should be used with caution. The headaches may be caused by the nitrate in the cream. If you use a little bit at time daily the headaches may subside over time because the nitrate loses effectiveness if used for long periords without a break. Always do a patch test for any product applied to the skin.

I used it for a few days last year and I felt sick as I don't know what. I had the worst headaches and I never get headaches so I know that was the cause. I just didn't feel well overall.

I don't think it is too far fetched to see you having this reaction even though most women don't. Everyone is different so their body will react differently to medications. Also some people can have headaches or nausea so bad that they vomit without having taken a thing.
Good luck. I will never use MN again.

Even though I don't use MN, I have to agree with the bolded:

It's not too much different from people brushing their teeth with baking soda or putting toothpaste on pimples, IMO. People just have to be mindful of their sensitivity to the active ingredients.

I agree that the cream can be used on any part of the body. But why use it if you don't have a fungal infection on your scalp?

I don't see people using Lotrimin as a body spray just because or Lamisil as a hand cream, yet both treat fungal infections.

It just seems as crazy to me as taking cough syrup in lieu of candy or Pepto Bismol as dessert just for the heck of it. :nono:

There have been a few studies to show that some people have microscopic yeast on their scalp that cause slow growth. Ketoconazole shampoo another antifungal shampoo is used a lot on the male hair boards for male pattern baldness because it is thought to decrease DHT production. I'm not sure about MN but it may also work in the same way just not as well as the ketoconazole. Some things may start off being used to treat one thing but then other uses are found. There are other threads on here and BHM about MN.

But the main thing is the OP is sick and she should not use it if it made her feel bad. I forgot to say earlier, I hope you feel better.

I do agree about products that start off being for one thing and then are used for another. Also the shampoo you mention is recommended for male pattern baldness, again a condition that may benefit from it. So I guess I don't understand why of all the growth aids available, so many would choose a medicine when they do not have symptoms that would tell them that fungus was an issue.

It's like finding out that my friend who had acne but now has beautiful flawless skin was on Accutane so I find a Dr Murray to kindly prescribe the same coz I want my skin to be as clear and beautiful as hers when I don't have anything wrong with my skin. My skin may not be as clear as hers, but it isn't so bad that I need medicinal help. It may just be due to a bad diet or not drinking enough water or not wearing sunblock...and so I would not take medicine unless a doctor told me I needed it. But that's just me.

OP, I'm sorry you're poorly, but I pray you'll try other ways that may not have side effects if you must use a growth aid. It's not that serious. Medicines sometimes show side effects later so it's not worth using one if you don't have symptoms that warrant using it. Think of medicines as getting chemo. If you don't need it, don't get it. It could be destroying you in other ways.

I had AWFUL nightmares with the MN... nightmares so bad I would be witnessing deaths and stuff:eek:...!!!!

not only that but it gave me AWFUL dry skin. Dry skin so bad that when I stretched my body, it's like my skin would screech:eek: omg. And I don't even have naturally dry skin.

Once I stopped, I had none of these awful side effects.

Thank you!!! Other ways in which you might have NO symptoms- like a headache or nausea.

OP- hope you feel better real soon.
