Me too... i got a 32oz jar for 3.50 at Sally's and I'm wondering how well it will mix with my shea butter or other butters.

I don't mix mine with anything. I use a leave in condition on my hair first, then use ECO.

ETA...I have only used the Brown with the White Top. I haven't tried any other colors because the one I am using is the one that was recommended. I almost picked up the light blue though.

I'm going totry mixing the clear Eco gel with shea butter and olive oil. I saw a recipe on the NP site. I have all of the ingrediants, I'm trying out some other products at the moment and haent gotten to it yet.

The processes of trying out products is tedious for me because I use the products to do wet and dry sets to see the results.

Would love to know the recipe/instructions. ECO - clear container is one of my staples

This is interesting. I've just been using the crystal and I didn't even know they made olive oil ecostyler!! I'll have to check that out. But I'll experiment with mixing mine some shea butter and/or oil to see what it does. I'd be interested to know.

I never thought about mixing the ECO style with a butter. Oh I have to get a hand mixer this weekend. How would lyou use thise ladies? For hold and styling or what? TIA:look:

32 oz is a nice size. Why not try mixing a small portion (for example 4 oz) of the EcoSyle gel with the butter of your choice (in a separate container) to see what works well and what doesn't. That way you still have an ample amount of "untouched" product (the gel) and you get to play with amounts (gel vs butter) to find a good mixture for your hair. I was thinking of doing this with the remaining EcoStyle I have (not a big fan of it) since its almost all gone (I was determined not to throw away). HTH.

Did it flake or get weird or anything? What was your ration of gel to butter? Add anything else?

No it didn't flake or get weird.

I used about

2oz of shea butter
6oz of Eco Styler gel olive oil
2 tablespoons of EVOO

Melted the shea and the added the gel little bit a time until smooth and the I added the oil.

It's a very nice mix and it kept my twist nice and soft.

I will try this when I'm natural. I'm not the best mixolgist, but it can't hurt if it is just shea butter.

i gave my eco gel away because it made my hair crunchy no matter how much leave in i used. and i was using the pink one which is a light hold.

but i would mix shea butter in my aloe vera gel when i get it. my hair is starting to love love love shea butter. the yellow kind though because the tan one sits on my hair and leaves a white residue.

I tried it and it made a very nice pudding I use for twisting my hair.

YAY!!!

Okay, gives me a little hope that there might be sumthin for me with the EcoStyle. I personally experienced flakage :perplexed, even when using small amounts. But like I said I was boss and barrelled through the tub. It didn't harm my hair, i just didn't care for the snow fall I got with it. So now that I am almost out, I'll try, just to see; sometimes things work with a little tweaking. :yep:

Sigh...trial and error is so necessary as a natural.

I love the Eco brown and also the Proclaim clear. I finally got into using butters on my hair and I love it, but I'm using olive and avocado butters right now. I usually apply butter emulsified in my hand with oil, then the gel but it would be great if I could skip a step. Maybe I'll try this...

I used to mix it with my Oyin whipped Pudding for sleek Braid-outs. The only problem was that it would flake after a couple of days. I no longer use it. I'll either mix the pudding with KCCC or Giovanni magnetic gel or both.
