I took down my weave today after it had been in for about 7 weeks and my hair was a tangled mess. I couldn't believe it. At one point I just started crying cuz I couldn't believe how tangled it was. I allllmmooosstt did the BC, I actually did one part that refused to get untangled. But then I just started taking all the tangles out one by one. But when That didnt work completely I just got most of them out, clarified (which surprisingly helped) and then blow dried my hair. I know, I know :spank: But, I didn't know what else to do and I was super tired...

I can't really tell the damage yet, But it has to be bad. But I will try and post pics tomorrow. Somebody please tell me something encouraging.:nono:

Just wanted to give you :bighug: :bighug:. I’m so sorry this has happened; try not to worry as you will get it untangled. I’m sorry but I don’t have much by way of advice but are you able to get some rest and deal with your hair a little later given that you're understandably tired. Personally, I’m better able and have a little more patience to deal with my hair- when tangled - after I’m rested as I get to frustrated when I’ve been untangling it for a long duration of time (by that time hopefully you'll get advice from other members) :)

itll be okay. hair grows back. but heres a cute winter kitten to cheer you up in the meantime

and you did very well by back tracking and taking your time to untangle before going haywire with the scissors

TynaBeena, it'll be OK. Lots of deep conditioning, healthy oiling, let your hair and scalp rest, time:timer: and nurturing will gain hair health again...and NO MORE WEAVES...!!!!

I feel your pain because it happened to me, that's how I found this forum. I ended up doing the big chop because I didn't know any better at the time.

Later it happened to my cousin and I used a vent brush and a slippery conditioner/oil to detangle small sections and knots at a time, rebraiding each section loosely after detangling(tip from a stylist). It took about three hours to detangle fully, she had very thick hair. Surprisly she got a small trim after and the damage wasn't that bad.HTH

Sorry that happened to you. I had this same fear recently. My daughter had braids for a month. No weave or anything, but she never wore braids that long before. I took them out, kept them loose with my fingers. Section by section, I used 6, I saturated her hair with Lustrasilk choles/mango conditioner. This softened and loosened her hair. I let that sit for about half an hour. I rinsed with cool water, then washed with Naked Naturals keratin/citrus shampoo, then I applied Naked Naturals Keratin/Citrus conditioner let that sit 10 min, detangled with conditioner on. Basically it was a breeze. I hit a few tangled spots, nothing major, my big tooth comb got right through. I was extremely happy; with my daughter, I am still working with two textures.

thank you guys:) I think it just shocked me because I used to always wear weaves and this has never happened to me. But I also never washed and DC'd my hair while having one. I think I just had a bad case of product build up.

I just chalk it up to a learning experience now that I was able to sleep on it. But last nite I was Pi**ed to say the least...

So sorry to hear this happened. I don't do weaves so I can't say my advise will be helpful - Maybe after you DC, your hair will untangle easier?

Please keep us updated...

Gurl...get in there and grab the bull by the horns. Get some PC and your favorite deep conditioner with super moisture and add your favorite oil. Do a deep condition for about 50-11 hours (or as long as you can stand it). Roller set that bad boy, then finger comb the curls out. Add a light oil and pin curl at night. Continue to baby that hair until it acts right. Also try that Fermodyl leave in for about 3 washes. Hopefully this helps...
:poke:DON'T GIVE UP!

Hugs girl - you WILL bounce back. You have the tools, knowledge and support right here in one place :)

I am really sorry this happened to you.

Dang, everytime I think I am ready to try a weave as a ps for the first time, you read about something like this

((hugs))....Dont worry too much after many a tangled mess from leaving my braid in too long...it always looks bad when you take it out but after washing and all that good gentle stuff I usually found that I was panicking for nothing. I hope that is the case for you. I am sure after you took your time detangling you will find that you hair hasnt been damaged as much as you panic led you to believe....

itll be okay, trust. i took some microbraids out one time i had the (the 1st time i ever had em) and straight jumped into the shower in excitement.

needless to say, tangle city. I had so much growth too.

I just cut most of it off then went back into braids and learned my lesson. I went back into braids as sort of a way to fight back. I wanted to show I could do it the right way instead of running away from it.

I;m a good place now, and you will be too. Unless you're dead, hair will grow back, and seeing that youre transitioning, it'll grow back thicker.

hugs
