Do you have a Denman that rips your hair out?

I have a D3 and was just experimenting...

I opened that orange rubber base and took out a few rows of teeth. I left 3 rows of teeth in.

It smoothed my hair fine and made my coils look pretty, but I lost half as much hair. All sheds too :yep:

When I want my hair super smooth, I'll put all the teeth back in. but for detangling purposes only, I'll use my toothless denman

Simple, but I thought I'd put it out there anyway.

Good thinking! I may have to try this. I had such a bad experience with my denman that I swore I'd never touch it again. Now it sits in my under- the-bathroom-sink product graveyard. So you're saying I can teach an old denman new tricks????

:yep:

I really did lose less hair. I'm gonna continue to use my denman this way :)

After using my D3 Denman two times, I realized it was no way possible my hair was shedding/breaking that much...

I ordered myself a D41 and have been in love every since...my strands could not take the D3. I can use my D41 four times a week and still not lose as much hair as I did in one use of the D3.

This sounds great! So which three rows did you leave in the brush, Neith? Three in the center? Thanks for sharing this. I had a bad Denman detangling experience just the other day :nono:

I wasn't losing a crazy amount of hair before... I still wanted to lessen it.

I'm also too cheap to get another denman and throw this one away :yep: Now I am back to losing just as much as I would with a wide toothed comb.

Yeah, I left them in the center. I tried spacing them out, but I like the 3 center rows the best.

Thanks for posting this.

I am pretty much scared of my Denman, I brush really slowly sometimes tilting it so I only use a couple of rows. If I use it at all.

I might try this.

How did u take the orage part off without breaking it?

Lys

I thought I broke it at first  but that orange rubber part is supposed to be able to come out I think. Give it a good yank and it should slide out.

I would take the rubber part out to clean all the conditioner/oil that accumulates in there too.

I tried it and I :heart2: it! It's awesome!!! With losing this small amount of hair that I lost today I can remove shed hairs twice a week! :yep: Thank you so much for sharing, Neith!!!

Yep, just push it upwards and it slides right out. It even pulls apart easily to remove the teeth. There's a part that pushes back together and there's a a little groove and nob that fits perfectly together. As if it was meant to be dismantled and put back together with ease. As Neith said, probably for the purposes of cleaning.

I got it open. It wasnt what I was expecting on the inside. I thought it would be individual teeth I can pull out. I'll see how it goes...

Here's a clip from Sera. She demonstrates how she uses her denman. Might give some of you ideads

I brush... tilting it so I only use a couple of rows.

This is pretty much what I do to pick out tangles and knots. :yep: I like my Denman well enough, but since I get extra curl definition and shrinkage from it, I only use it now if I need to do some extreme detangling, or to smooth my hair back in updos/buns.

Excellent idea, Neith! I might even try it out this weekend.

Yay! :trampolin I'm glad it worked for you.

Tell me how it works out :)

Gee, I thought I was the only one who had her hair ripped out by the Denman. I chucked that sucker in the trash can one day because of this very problem. :nono:

I couldn't understand why everyone was raving about the Denman when it ripped my hair out so consistently.

Nice suggestion Neith!!

I have the D3 used it once and vowed never to touch it again! It is too intense for my fine strands

I may try this....

*random* But I have fallen in love with the denman comb...the one with 3 rows, I use it after I finer comb and use a shower comb to get out those pesky shed hairs

the denman comb is great to chase with when flat ironing too :)

I have never experienced hair loss with my Denman above normal slight shedding. I detangle before the Denman with a wide-tooth comb though.
