..........for college students and the broke in general???????
My cousin is going off to college at the end of this month and needs a flat iron that is:

1.) AFFORDABLE

2.) effective

3.) good quality

4.) should last for a LONG time (she will be gone for 18 months.)

5.) preferably 1 inch

Here is a pic of her hair...Sorry the pic is huge I don't know how to resize.. TIA!

What price range are we talking about? Under $50 $20? Is there a T.J. Maxx in the area. Mine has good flat irons for $15-$30

I wanna know too. I want to length check and hate the one I have. It snags (Sassoon for thick coarse hair. Avoid it.).

well you can check eBay. Last week I got a Corioliss Pro Pink for only $20 (free shipping)

Under $30... There is a Marshall's she previously worked for....She asked what brands..... I'm guessing because she might be familiar to them...:look:

If they have babyliss that's a popular brand. We don't have a Marshall's so I'm not too sure what brands they have.

I bouth a Vidal Sasson in 25. I bought one at 10 once too. You can find very good stuff if you look for a little

i read on here that the vidal sassoon answers line for course hair is just as good if not better than the chi. i have it and it works really well. i have only used the chi once (if you can consider it once - it didn't have a temp control and it smoked on my hair after one pass so i turned it off and never used it again).

the one for course hair has ceramic plates not ceramic coated plates like the others in the line.

24.99 at walmart.

I like my BabyLiss, I think it's the euro brand of Conair. Gets really hot and it's $25 at Marshalls.

I can co-sign on the Andis from Walmart. It really did the job for me back in hs. I would suggest getting another after/if the ceramic coating starts to chip off....it gets HOT.

Babyliss. I think from TJ maxx or maybe it was ebay. The coniar one the guy sells at the Sabino website is pretty good too. I think it's a conair?

GVP flat iron from Sallys $59.99. Or is that too much to spend?

This is the one I was going to reccomend too. I love this flat iron. I just looked at the video on Sabino's website and it looks exactly the Conair one I have from Target http://www.target.com/Conair-Ultra-...d_s=left-5&pf_rd_m=A1VC38T7YXB528&pf_rd_t=201

For those that don't mind a ceramic coated iron it does a great job. I have bought and returned more expensive flat irons that have not done as good on my hair.

I had that one it did a great job. It was small and easy to hold. The only reason I got a new one is because the felt started to come off the top of the iron.

If she can go a bit over 30 catch a sale and have coupon. The Sally's version of the CHI is very good.

Re: What AFFORDABLE flat irons do you ladies recommend in this economic crisis?......

:yep: I'd say the MaxiGlide because of the steam feature and I paid $80+ (I believe...???) for mine at BedBath&Beyond. :drunk:

I've bought conair in the past and loved them. I bought a pair by Remington from Walmart yesterday and they are wonderful.
