Paddle brush or shower/detangling comb?

I was inspired by a thread I read on another forum. I have been curious and have considered buying a paddle brush, though I love my shower comb. But I always feel like I am missing tangles and such. So, which is better, especially on curly hair? Keep in mind that I am transitioning as well.

Thanks in advance!

I love my Denman. For whatever reason, I can't get the clumping of curls that I get with the Denman with anything else....

I use the ones with 9 rows...

I am transitioning also. I really love the shower comb, I loved it so much I bought four of them! I use the Denman sometimes to put into a bun. When I am fully natural I will use the denman more though.

For me it's a paddle brush. More specifically a cushion brush. The shower comb misses tangles all the time for me, plus it's just too rough. I don't know why brushes get such a bad rap; combs are way worse in my opinion.

I have both

I only use the shower comb in the shower with loads of condish.

the paddle for when im just brushing my hair down

I use my shower comb to detangle (with conditioner in my hair of course). And then follow up with my paddle brush if I am putting my hair in a ponytail puff.

ETA: I always use a leave-in conditioner and oil in my hair while I'm using the brush

I voted shower comb. I only comb my hair while in the shower. I usually finger comb.

I use neither. Not sure why, but they don't work well for me. I use a wide tooth comb to detangle, and a standard boars head bristle brush to smooth when needed.

I prefer to use a comb over a brush because my hair is short and I usually like to do any combing/Denmaning in the shower when my hair is soaking. And my hair is always sooooooo soft when wet and so silky and just Ahhhh!!!:infatuated: Til that mess dries. :nono: Then I'm like okayyyy?

I only use combs on my hair, I haven't used a hair brush in almost 3 yrs and me and my hair are doing just fine. I love my shower comb to detangle.

I use both in the shower. Shower comb first under shower stream, load up more conditioner and brush through with paddle brush.

I have a Goody's Jojoba Brush and I wouldn't trade it for anything else. Tried the denman. Tried shower combs and seamless combs. All three ripped out my hair :wallbash: and drove me to finger detangling. I gave the Goody's brush a try because I heard so many good reviews on it and it's one of the few paddle brushes without those little balls on the "bristles". It's one of the best investments I've made for my hair and I'm thinking of buying another as a back up (I've had the brush for a year or more and only one of the bristles has come off).

This brush right here makes me enjoy detangling my hair lol! Plus, it helps clump my curls and coils :lick:

so you use this the same way you would use a shower comb? i mean, in the shower with your hair loaded with conditioner..

I like my shower comb. I don't think that every bit of hair has to be fully detangled. It just pulls out way too much hair, but I will detangle with my shower comb under running water and I don't lose hair.

I prefer a paddle brush over a shower comb. Shower comb takes me so long and I have super thick hair. My paddle brush gets the tangles quickly and it clumps the curls at the same time

Yesterday for the first time I used my modified Denman in the shower after I used my wide tooth comb. It was like magic! I usually only comb out of the shower with loads of conditioner and water and loose lots of hair. But under running water, I lost less. I will be combing in the shower from now on, I wish it just didn't take so long.

LUV MY DENMAN!!!!!!!! They don't even make the one i have anymore, 9 rows, black, rubbery.....
Almost flipped out when I couldn't find it

Yep. I do. I divide my hair loosely in half and apply a little Honey Conditioning Rinse and that brush glides through my hair . I love this combo.
