says my MIL about my 2 year olds hair. :nono:

Now I have read enough horror stories on here to know that when I drop her off at her house in the future, I will make SURE she doesn't do anything crazy to my daughter's hair.

In response I said, "I don't put any form of heat OR chemical in her hair" and looked at her like :clubu::hand:.

Just cuz you have two boys don't be experimenting on mmy baby's hair. She ain't no babydoll. That's a required MINIMUM beatdown.
 
Ohh! that sounds just like my mother and grandmother, can you beleive my mother said.

Aaaw they have that good hair too bad its soo curly??? :nono:

And my grandmother said, too bad they are young, we could have relaxed their hair or hot combed it.

I was like NOOO! their hair is beautiful just as it is..

Just make sure you let them know how you feel about your daughters hair and that you dont want anyone else trying to change it, so they wont get any crazy ideas
 
Wow! That reminds me of my boss's MIL. My boss is white, her husband is black, and they have a very beautiful daughter with the thickest, longest 3c/4a hair around. Well when my boss's MIL babysits, she refuses to comb the child's hair if it's flat ironed straight. (The child is a competitive cheerleader and a lot of times she has to straighten her hair for competitions.)

Her reason..."When her hair is straight, she is denying her black roots. I would rather let her (waist length) hair tangle, then allow her to act like a white girl..."

It's disrespectful for ANYONE... to challenge anyone else's ethnic or racial identity, especially in front of that other race/ethnic parent.

I know right...I respect my elders, but if I had a biracial child, and my MIL expected her to identify with one race over the other...oh you better believe there will be an exchange of words. :yep:

Luckily for my boss, her daughter is now getting old enough where she can start at least combing her own hair.
 
Hot combing is up to you but my daughters hair was extra thick and curly so I did warm comb her hair on the heat setting of one. The reason is because they kept notting on the ends and getting tangled up. I just did it again today but she's 5 now. My grandma was like she has always had some thick curly hair! You know we don't say nappy in our house we say thick or curly.
 
Just make sure you keep an EXTRA close eye on your MIL. One minute it's "why don't you just run a hot comb through her ends to soften it a little?" The next minute, it's "I RAN a hot comb through her ends to soften them a little."

girl make sure you keep your baby's hair in a ps when you know she goin over there. tryin to mess up your baby's natural.​

Cosigning! My mother in law DID hot comb my one year old's hair without my permission. She wanted to make it more manageable. At the time dd would never sat long enough for me to comb her hair, so naturally MIL took on the task. She sat just fine with MIL:ohwell: I agree with the pp that said do protective styles on your dd if you send her to MIL, because if she gets hold to that hair she WILL run a hot comb through it.

And your MIL is still alive? I'm all about respecting my elders, but MIL would've had to get it on that one. DD may be your MIL's granddaughter, but she's YOUR child. That means that you're the boss of her hair. What you say goes; there are no negotiations on that one.

My MIL is the best, I completly trust her with my kids. She would be using all sorts of organic stuff on them, the only thing I might be a little :perplexed: about is dread locs :looks: it works for some.. but my mother?? No she would relax their hair I KNOW it.
