It took me days to get around to washing my hair and then to DCing
A couple of days ago I finally washed and DC (New kind of coconut oil:nono: and ors mayo)., but I did not really detangle well.

Then the day before yesterday, I decided to do a wash and go without detangling and with a new conditioner (Burt's bee Raspeberry and Brazil nut:nono:)
Well, I thought it was ok, but I felt that the hair seemed a little tangled. No big deal I thought!

Wash and Go mess!

Then yesterday, I thought I should stop being lazy and do a good protein and moisture DC. My hair was very very tangled by then and looked a HOT mess. So I did another ors DC on dry hair and then tried to cowash with the Burts bee condish again:nono:. WOW this was a really bad idea my hair was extremely tangled. I rinsed that out and detangled with my beloved Suave tropical coconut, but even that could not help much with the tangles. Anyway long story short, I got the tanlges out, did a DC with AO HSR and rollerset with my regular coconut oil instead of the new one I was experimenting with. I lost quite a bit of hair, but I think the end result was ok. This could have ended really badly. I had to give a lot of patience to avoid a set back. I braided my hair into large plaits and went to bed.

Here are some picks

Sorry the pic is not clear. My hair is curled upwards so you can't really see the progress, but I think I made a little progress!:look:

Mandy....I think The End Results look Perfect. You Did a Great Job. It's Purty.:yep:

Yeah, Successfully Detangling with No Collateral Damage is No Joke.:look:

Anywhoo.......It looks nice.

Mandy, your pics from yesterday's braidout look great, and I'm glad that this turned out not to be a setback.

I don't know what it is about those Burt's Bees conditioners. They just aren't big on moisture. I was using the Burt's Bees Super Shiny conditioner, and I had to stop using it b/c it wasn't helping me in the moisture department at all.

The end result is lovely!

Sounds like you got lots of tangles from loose/shed hairs that weren't totally removed. Wetting hair will always make a situation like that worse.

What a misleading thread title,. The rollerset/braidout is very pretty!
Your wash and go hair looks a lot like my son's, so I wouldn't think of it as a mess. :)

Very naughty, making me feel bad for you before I read the thread!:naughty::lachen: Your hair looks awesome! It inspires me to see you do so well.:yep: I am so glad that I'm transitioning and learning the correct things to do with my hair. I look forward to your next update!:yep::Flahsssss

Your braidout is gorgeous. I remember when you were considering relaxing and I'm glad you didn't because your hair is so pretty.

As usual I will say I love your hair and all of the different styles you do with it. You're the reason I started buying more hair accessories.

Thank you. Those conditioners are the worst I have tried so far I am staying far away from them.

Awww thank you. I knew I had a hair twin out there somewhere:yep:

:giggle: sorry couldn't help it. I am happy that I can inspire someone, it helps me stay on this natural journey. PM me if you need any support at all. I don't know much, but I am a good listener!

very nice results, super cute style.

yeah water and tangles is never a good combo. ill rather detangle for days than wet my hair...

Very nice progress!! I'm glad it was manageable though.

Burt's bees conditioner is HORRIBLE for detangling...at least for me it was. After taking out braids or twist I have to detangle and deep condition right away. It's all the shed hair that causes problems. The same thing happened to me too so don't feel bad.

Your rollerset came out nicely...i'm still trying to figure that out. :ohwell:

My hair tangled with that burt's bees raspberry conditioner too! I had to let that stuff go. Glad you got your hair detangled. It turned out lovely.

Thanks everyone.
I think my hair loves rollersets and it seems to be the safest way to straighten it. If only it did not take so long to do.
Anyway...I think it is work it though.

yep, you definitely made progress!! and that's some serious growth for 4 weeks (RE the braid pics).

burts bees brand is the worst for detangling. so don't feel discouraged. also, you always see a lot more hair after taking down a protective style than you would normally. so don't sweat it, your hair looks awesome!

Thank you. I think this knowledge is what kept me from freaking out.

Absolutely lovely! Isn't it wonderful to learn how to navigate the ends and outs of one's mane? You're quite the inspiration, missy!
