I tried it with Apogee Keratin and green tea spray, it worked well may hair came out strong but obviously doesn't have the same effect as BKT

Working with what I already own, I would just shampoo with Silicon Mix Pearl Extract, then with Halka La Plancha shampoo that I mixed with Global Goddess Coconut Amla Revitalizing Oil Treatment. My next step would be to twist my hair, clip it up, and sit underneath my hard bonnet dryer until my hair got 80% dry. Then I'd take a cup and pour a few ounces of Aphogee 2 Minute Keratin Reconstructor. Taking a brush, I'd apply a thin layer on small sections of hair at a time.

After my hair has been coated, I'd twist again and get underneath the dryer until my hair got 100% dry. That's when I'd start to flat iron each section 7+ times with my Amika 1.5" iron.

I'd wait 7 days instead of 4 to wash, apply any other products including hair ties and clips, and exercising. If I still sweat and my hair reverted anywhere, I would flat iron again during that 7 day wait period.

I misunderstood your original question. I thought you were trying to do the bkt along with an aphogee treatment

Sure, go for it. It won't be anything like a BKT, but I bet you'll get a great press. Please please please do not do nearly as many passes of the flat iron as suggested with the traditional BKT.

Alternately you might also try a sour cream and lime (I used lemons) treatment. When I did the SC and lime treatment (about 3 months or so before my bkt), I had similar results to my BKT in that my shrinkage lessened by 50%, my curl pattern loosened and my hair felt smoother and stronger. I did a DC immediately following the SC and lime treatment in the interest of balance.

So maybe you could shampoo, do the SC and lime followed by a moisturizing DC, rinse, spritz with aphogee green tea leave in and some heat protectant and, heck, if you have it or use it, some sabino, chi silk infusion or sally's knock off chi silk infusion. Blow dry and flat iron.

I haven't been successful in figuring out whether the ingredients are similar yet. A lot of sites about this service sell products online w/o mentioning their ingredient list! smh

Please be careful with the aphogee protein products. Once it hardens on your hair you have to rince it out immediately. The first time i used this i tampered with my hair without rinsing it out and my hair literally broke. try another type of protein that is specially formulated to leave in your hair but is strong enough to get the results you are looking for.

i really think that you might like the liquid keratin treatment. Although the results wont be like an actual bkt you will get smoother hair for about 30 days. I tried it and liked it. It made my hair a little more manageable when come wash time. The steps are very similar to that of getting a bkt but since this treatment wont have formaldehyde in it your results wont be permanent it will only make it smoother not straight.

Oh yea i almost forgot. You can buy this at the ULTA beauty store. They sell the individual products and or you can just buy the full system. I bought the actual keratin spray treatment. They sugest using the shampoo and conditioner because it is sulfate free but as a cheeper route i just bought the new loreal sulfate free conditioner and shampoo. Hope this was helpful

When they say this lasts thirty days, they mean it washes out or wears off? I think I like that. I've been eyeballing Liquid Keratin for a month now. Thanks for the review!

It pretty much washes out over time because it requires you to use the flat iron at about 400 degrees to really seal the protein onto the hair shaft, and my hair was so soft and shiny afterwards. Throughout the month washing my hair i noticed that my hair would still be smooth but not as smooth as my second wash after applying the product. It was almost like throughout the washes it was being washed out. And i think thats where the shampoo and conditioner comes in. When you use their shampoo; because its sulfate free, the protein is not entirely washed off my the harsh sulfates. All in all this product really helped me stretch while boosting my protein. I even used the treatment as a leave-in through out my washes to help detangle, although i would use only a little. The product would works with the 400 degree heat but 400 degrees once a month is enough for meerplexed.
The liquid keratin package is a little expenseve=$70. But get this. When i went to ulta, the bottles in the package looked a little smaller than the ones being sold seperately. I just bought the treatment for about 25-27$. Dont remember really how much it was. But i figured if the shampoo and condish are sulfate-free then i'll be fine with tne new loreal sulfate free line, and it worked just fine for me.
I wonder how the liquid keratin poo and condish would have work on my hair though. hehe oh well im too cheap to find out

No the ingredients are not similar. Even between the different BKT's they differ greatly. They are not primarily protein products. Their a mixture of keratin and other things that help the product to adhere to the hair. BKT is a whole new animal, completely and totally different than any protein product like aphogee 2 minute reconstructor.

I think she is talking about using the two minute not the two step which hardens.

Creolesugarface do a test strand first in the back of your head, see how it turns out before you do your whole head. Sheba gave great advice not to do so many flat iron passes since it's not an actual bkt treatment.

unfortunately I did this before seeing all the responses LOL

luckily, my hair didn't fall out! It looked just okay, though. Nothing spectacular. I wouldn't recommend it nor do it again
