I was inspired by this post yesterday: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=382014

After I read the thread and watched the video, I jumped up and ran to 3 different stores looking for a banana clip. I figured this would be a great way to change up things since I want to BC so bad and my ponytail wash n' go just doesn't excite me anymore. It also disguises my last little bit of relaxed ends and my hair actually looks longer than it is.

I wanted to do it just like the youtuber but the hair wouldn't fit (and I didn't want to have to buy another one......only to probably break it too). So I figured I would try it wet.

The first 3 pics are from this morning right before I walked out the door. The last was taken when I got home this evening. I like the way it dried and fluffed out a bit.

I used Garnier Sleek and Shine and I also used Coconut Oil for the style and I just pulled it back.

I am going to try sleeping on it and then waking up in the morning, spritzing the curls, fluff out and then go. I am hoping this works since it doesn't seem to work when I wear all of it out.

Great hair! I have been contemplating buying a banana clip but even back in the day my hair was tooooo thick for them, they just wouldn't close lol!

Girl you really may have to find a jumbo clip (I think they really do make them). That's a lotttttt of hair you have there!

I love banana clips and your hair texture is yummy, what relaxed ends are u talking about?????

Thanks hon but they are definitely there. If you look near the bottom, that's where they mainly are. I had to massage and manipulate them quite a bit to get them to act right. They are all over the place so when I get it cut, they will all be done away with and I will end up with some sort of style (slightly layered probably)

SUPER CUTE! We have the same texture hair. Since this style is cute on you, then it will be cute on me! :yep: Must try.

Thanks; I hope it works for you (because I am going to work the heck out of it!)
I am so loving it because it just seems to give my hair the extra "umph" it needs right now since I can't get that when I wear it down just yet.

Good luck!

Love it! Your hair is gorgeous!!

The past couple of weeks I did wet buns with the Sleek and shine and coconut oil and my hair was yummy. Why didn't I think to do something like this!!?? Hmmmm...Wonder if I can find a banana clip?

I'm going to try it this weekend...thanks for the inspiration!!

Love the style. You hair looks great. I think I am going to try that look if I can find a banana clip that will hold my hair lol.

ETA: What product did you use to slick your sides back?

Isn't that the combination the best? (Sleek and Shine and coconut oil). My bun was boring me and I really wanted to enjoy my hair this summer and since my wash n' go's are not quite going, I think this style will work for me.

Let me know how it works out for you!

Thanks hon! I used coconut oil and brushed it down with my denman. (after putting the Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine throughout my hair)

I completely agree. I saw this too and have been trying find banana clips ever since. lol.
The best I can do right now is a fro hawk but its so much easier than bobby pins.

Where can I get a 7" or 8" banana clip? So far I have been to 3 BSS and I cant find any that big...

Hey BB,

Looks great.

I haven't tried using a banana clip in ages. I broke a few back in the day on my relaxed hair. I'd have to find a super sturdy one for my natural hair.

Very nice style, and congrats on the transition! I love the way your ponytail curls fall and fluff throughout the day! My 21 year old daughter was asking me about a bananna clip yesterday. I told her we use to use them back in the day, she wants to find one to frame a curly mohawk style:spinning:
