because y'all be burning holes in my scalp. I know these braids are fake. Gringo on the subway knows these are fake. Old chinese lady handing me a bag of glazed donuts knows they are fake. So if you are one of these fools, please stop. They'll be out by the end of the summer. T'is all.

On the plus side, I have been noticing a lot of naturals in the city. It makes me want to take them out a bit early, but I'll be strong.

There is a Chinese place around my house and they have the BEST sugared donuts in the world they make them fresh on the spot

Ever consider folk are looking because your hair looks G-O-O-D, not bad? The looks may be positive not negative?

You know us New Yorkers go for the cynical and negative first..

We don't be thinking like that most times.

I almost cussed a man but good for paying a compliment.
My brain said shut up and let him finish what is coming out of his pie hole..

Probably because (please don't stone me) usually when a woman gets to staring at your hair and you can't see the "Ooh!" or "Nice!" on her face and she doesn't say so herself...she's probably glarin'...not starin'...and she's most certainly not in awe. I get those same ones when I wear braids lol..the "Ugh, she think she cute..."

Your braids must look really good if people think extensions are real hair. Do you have feed ins?

eta:

Or do you think they are looking at you like.."take that ish out your head" lol

lol. i wore box braids down to my waist and i always got stares on the subway, in the elevator, whatever. and always people asking me if all that hair was mine. and what did i say?

"I paid for it, of course it's mine."

people just don't understand all of the options available in hair styling.

oh well, not your problem! :)

Tell it! :lachen:

I see ladies all the time with fake hair, extensions weaves, whatevers, all thru queens and Manhattan(where i pass thru everyday) lol I dont look at them sideways.. Your hair must look really nice.. Even THO, I had braids back in Feb and my own hating cousin said "your husband must have talked you into getting those cause no one wears extentions anymore". I forgive her, she's clueless....

^^ yea.. there's nothing wrong with extentions... besides they'll be sweating you when you reach your hair goal.

I am getting this vibe too! I got braids a couple of weeks ago and I kinda want to take them out.

Now, I'm not going to, because the cost too much money! But I'm thinking sheesh!

I never really considered braids "weave" per se, but 'fake hair" yes.

I have micros and I think that they look great, but I have been getting flack because people are like "you have hair, why did you put weave in it"...I don't think too many people are trying to hear that "I am doing the Crown and Glory Method. This is a way to grow the hair in a protective manner.." LOL!

Whatevs, I love it. They don't have to like it!
