Sorry to tell you, whether you are still cool with them or not, these people are not your friends (at the least they don't consider you their friend--friends don't act like that). They sound like frenemies: enemies that pretend to be friends.

It sounds like they must not know too many black people and they treat you as a fun "novelty" to get kicks out of messing with.

Thats what i tell my sister now... her coach tried to tell her that she had to grow her hair out (she wears it short) so that she could have a long ponytail with curls... her 1st year away from school... her poor hair was so cranky she didn't know how to take care of it... now its a mohawk lol

I would have been labeled the "angry black chick" cuz I would've got in that a**

I was the "angry black chick..." i used to act out so bad... it didn't help that i was better than most of them too... i used to rub my natural talent in their face cuz it took me 2 hrs to practice and the rest of them like 4... I'd be like hahaha fat a$$
got in trouble for that, but they didn't get in trouble for their abuse of my hair...
i wish i couldve handled it better... but then again today id probably do the same thing lol

Just to be devil's advocate for a quick second, some people have fixation with throwing sutff in people's hair. I do to DH just because I know he has mousse in it and doesn't want it tampered with. I was notorious for doing that with spitballs though in school, LOL!

I know exactly how you feel - unfortunately. I grew up in a totally white area where they had never seen a black person before. My mum is white and she was constantly asked if she had adopted me and my two brothers and when she said no that the children were hers, they always looked totally puzzled!!

Anyway my hair has been called 'birds nest', mickey mouse ears (wearing two puffs), pulled and yanked as if it were public property often by teachers at my school and been the subject of many horrible jokes and taunts.

HOWEVER I have recently got back in touch with several of my school mates and one thing that I am sure of is that I would never swap to be them to get however possibly long and silky hair because I still look like I just left school and they DON'T :-) So our hair may give us a few more trials and tribulations but being a black woman has many more advantages overall!

Don't make no damn sense for folx to put their hands on anyone and do/say these kinds of things :perplexed

Never ever ever happened to me, even when I lived in other countries when I was an exchange student as a teenager (among people who have never seen black people). My demeanor would say that I am friendly but it also made it clear that touching was out of the question. Ask all the questions but touching is a no no.

Damn why would anybody ruin perfect good Skittles like that? LOL
sorry I laughed at that part :lachen:

I have nothing intelligent to add. Except maybe that they can't relate since its not their hair type. Hey I'm ready to cut somebody if they look at my hair wrong, let alone hide my scarves LOL

That's straight up jealousy. Your hair is gorgeous. She was probably jealous that her stringy hair can't hold a curl pattern like yours can. "Did you fix your hair yet". Girl, you're a better woman than me, cuz if home girl didn't know how to hit a back flip before, she sure would have learned after I got through with her :lachen:! Forgive the slight hate I have for your friend (or ex-friend). I just thought she was rude and ignorant.

Wow. That's a test for sure, because I would've gone off on somebody. You're better than me. People that want to stand out and be different (be themselves), but don't know how often try to make those who do feel bad....misery loves company. You and your hair are gorgeous!

 Hmphf. Next time y'all go somewhere hot and sunny, hide all their sunscreen and lock them outdoors. See who's laughing then.

This is done out of meanness. Tell them that you don't think it is funny. If they continue to do this, it is another form of harassment. It is another form of bullying and this should NOT be tolerated!:ohwell:

Well, when i first glanced at the post... i was like... "skittles, what's the big deal?" they just fall out.. and hey, sometimes people just like to put things on people (head, shoulder, back, whatever) and see if they notice. All in good fun.

BUT, seeing the list of other offenses, that does seem pretty targeted towards you and your hairtype. I would have to have a little..talk...with them about it.

I've never had this happen ever.

Just curious...do you ever talk about your hair badly in front of them? Like my hair is so nappy(in a bad way) or things like that?

Yes, stuff like that pisses me off. I went off on a coworker 2 or more years ago about his comments about my braids. He is still afraid to speak to me til this day. I draw the line on the skin and the hair jokes. Its not a game.

Im sorry that this happend to you. Like others have said, they may not be your friends and it seem like they need to get checked sternly.

When I first wore my hair in a fro, a co-workers rubbed his grimey a** hands in my hair like he was using it as a paper towel. I grabbed one of his wrists and dugg my finger nails into it realy hard and cussed him out...muther f*** I dont know where ur hands been!!!!!!

They sound like a bunch of losers then and now. She was just jealous of your gorgeous healthy, fluffy, curly locks and that you weren't born with flat hair; And wet dog? How can someone with hair as flat as I assume hers is call you a wet dog??? There's is usually the hair that looks like that when it's wet. Unfortunately they've just been fooled into thinking it's cute. It's not.

Okay these people are NOT your friends and when you see them 20 years from now you will STILL look good and youngish and they will just look like Middle Aged tired looking white women. people are so hateful and stupid. It never happened to be cause I'd kill a ****** or 2 but my best friend Comfort from Boarding School went through hell. She was a VERY STUNNING girl from Nigeria and ALL the boys liked her from Olu, Babatunde Akim to Ahmed, Ali, Reza to Peter Nigel Sven and Ian.

They ALL dug them some Comfort. The Beckys and the Ming Lees were SO Jealous and hateful they put Nair in her shampoo. I found out about it when I had run out and asked it I could use hers. It smelled funny so I smelled it again it yep it was hair removal creme.

I am STILL trying to figure out HOW on earth a QP bag of Weed got into those girls room who told on them and How some of them actually got expelled. Looking around Looking around Looking around.

DON'T MESS WITH ME.

Yes I FINALLY CONFESS I did it I did it I did it. But it FELT SOOOOO DAMNED GOOD. Cause Comfort has the Thickest most loveliest hair and these girls thought that they were the IT CREW and they were so cruel to Comfort because she was very nice and would not hurt a fly. I on the other hand had no love for them or anyone else but Comfort was and still IS truly a friend. That was the last straw.

Can I beat them for you

aw hell naw! i can tell you don't live in the south. it would have been ON if that happened down here. blacks against others. even if their were blacks around that don't like natural hair. it would have been a great big fight. =[

OT: your hair is so pretty in the pic with those idiot girls.

Ignorance is bliss! That picture pissed me off. She's just smiling and grinning. Jealousy can rear its ugly head in maany ways!

I cannot WAIT for open Season to feel that you have the right to touch a Black woman's hair is over. I mean WHY I am not trying to touch yours. WET Dog oh please.

"calling me a wet dog... " <--- that one just sounds straight up mean. that's not funny at all.

that is just too disrespectful. your hair is beautiful (not just saying that) and doesn't need to be the butt of everyone's joke because it's not 1a.

telling you to fix your hair... hmph, i would have had to reach through the phone and "fix" her face.

 Hmphf. Next time y'all go somewhere hot and sunny, hide all their sunscreen and lock them outdoors. See who's laughing then.

:yep: Then watch the Korean turn brown while the others turn red. That'll be some really funny ish when they realize that she's been deceiving them all along.

daaang ur tight... gangster like ****... I LIKE U lol
i cant believe someone would put nair in someones shampoo... u gave it to em tho lol
