I love love love love love love sisterlocs. Ever since I saw a woman with CL locs, I have been in love. I would get locs if it didn't require me sitting for hours and hours on end to get them started, maintained, and to take them down when I am sick of them.

So, I will have to settle for growing my own hair out, and palm rolling it whenever I want the loced look.
 
My daughter's best friend is a beautiful 12 year old young lady with shoulder length locs. She's poised and has amazing style and grace. Her hair has been locked since she was 5 because she wanted locs like her mom.

My 22 year old son has free formed locs. His are not as neat as my daughter's friend, but they certainly match his personality.

Several teachers in my building (male and female) have locs and they look fantastic. I've always considered them, but I'm not quite ready for the commitment.
 
I've had sisterlocks for around a month now. I got them to save time taking out/putting in braids. I've never been anything but natural, so I didn't feel the need to get to know my loose hair first.
 
i have natural hair and i think locks are beautiful but i doubt i would get it done because i like to be able to change it up whenever i want.
 
I had locks for a couple of years when I was in my early 20's. I thought I would keep them forever but I felt like the awkward stage would never leave. I got bored and frustrated and cut them off. I don't regret it. I may try locs again when I'm older.
 
I eventually want to loc. I may do it in six years for my 30th bday... yeah that's the plan.

My boyfriend has locs down to his behind and works in corporate America, he's an IT consultant. He has worked for Bank of America, Time Warner, Blue Cross Blue Shield...

Me too. I've always thought locs were one of the most beautiful ways to wear the hair. And I think they'd look great on me!

The women I've known who had locs always had that inner radiance and peace, and I am slowly trying to grow into that type of woman. Maybe once I get there, I'll be ready to loc.
 
I see locks as no different to braid extensions. I voted hell naw as I have never been able to keep braids in for more than a few months (even with redoing them). I find them very restrictive style wise and sometimes you just really want to brush/comb your hair; it's so frustrating!

Absolutely beautiful when done professionally though!

I love locs for the most part. The big chunky ones aren't for me though.
I have thought about locing, but I change my mind too much for that.
Maybe one day
 
My sisterlocks are now 10 days old. I really love them so far and they're settling in quite nicely. I'm very happy with my decision, I guess it's time to update my signature...

So I'm going from laxed to locs. I still have alot of texture in my hair and my last touch up was in January. I'm not too worried about the fuzzies. I love the fact that I can safely 'wash and go' without worrying about the detangling session. My twists have shrunken up to armpit length in most areas so I'm enjoying the shorter look for now (they were lower midback in the beginning).

I don't intend to be loc'ed forever but for right now no combing fits my lifestyle and I'm very happy.

These are my primary reasons for locking my hair. I loved all the differernt looks i could achieve with loose hair but it was simply too much work to switch up styles frequently, so I stayed in twists 90% of the time. Being able to wash and go is priceless.. Given my career and life goals I can't see a time where I'll have time to spend hours a week on my hair again.

I love my locks more than any hairstyle I've ever had - they also make me feel sexy as heyell and I like the vibe they give out, others seem to like it too :grin:. I love the texture, the fuzz, the way they feel, and enjoying them as they grow.

As far as softness - that all depends on a persons texture and washing/maintenance routine. I wash/co-wash, condition, or rinse a few times a week and my locs love me for it. My locs feel soft but not in the way stretched or relaxed hair feels - mine feel like angora or a brushed cotton rather than silk.

I had locs from Feb 2000 to Jan 2007. I loved them and miss them every day, but I kinda like the idea of having loose natural hair. I am trying to see how long I can get it, though I seem to be cutting it every 4 months. I think I will loc again if I ever have a child.

Yeah sweetie, please do. Guess what, the SL consultant is on the way to pick me up (how sweet, I have no auto) right now. I'm kind of excited. I washed and condished and banded. I hope she tells me to cut. I wanna do a bc on the real.

Will check in when I get back or in the 'morrow when at work and nothing to do, or trying to drawn out pink people.

That's the main reason I could never have locs, my hair line would not be able to stand it. Also, just like with relaxers, locs are entirely too permanent for me. But, I like them on other people.
 
I voted 'Maybe' because I really do want to lock my hair. My detangling sessions are bugging. Then when Im done detangling, my hair is back tangled again! :wallbash: So, I'm on the fence right now about. As someone stated earlier about the hairline maintenance...that is the only thing that I would be worried about. I have seen so many women around town with beautiful locks, from behind, the:look:n when they turn around, I'm like WHOA!... because the hairline is pretty much NOT PRESENT! :lachen: Sad, but true. I think locks would totally fit my lifestyle right about now. I just need that extra push and a big dose of PATIENCE :look:
 
Loc are so pretty, i have always loved well maintained locs. I don't think i would get locs because hubby doesn't like them at all :( and i do want to appeal to him AND have the choice to look different from one day to another....BUT i wear 2 strand twists all the time and since im 4b and my hair is matty, after 2 weeks of them they look almost EXACTLY like locs :)

I see a lot of women IRL with them; and most often their locs are beautiful until you get to their hairline.:nono:
The weight of the locs, the constant pulling and the tension/stress on the hair at the roots can rush the process and lead to a quick case of traction alopecia. And that takes away from the beauty of the locs to me.
 
Just stepped in from the consultation. She put in eight and I am to wash my hair as normal and see how they hold up and she'll determine which pattern to use on my hair.

SL appointment is July 15/16. She says it'll take all weekend. I am going to cut maybe 1-2" just 'cause I want to (got some dye in my hair that I want gone). That'll take the timeframe down a smidge.

Off to bed so I can go pay Caesar's things to Caesar tomorrow :rolleyes:.

I've been relaxed, a shoulder length natural and now i have a TWA so i thin sisterlocks would be the next thing for me since i want to be able to style my hair like it is straight but actually be natural if that makes sense lol

I really like those twists in your hair. Have you ever thought of putting those twists in an updo for your birthday? That would look very pretty.:yep:
 
I LOVE locs and I'd like them one day but I doubt I'll ever actually go through with it. I have a very sensitive scalp and the weight from just extension hair annoyed me so with locs I know it'd be worse.

And ain't no way I'm ever quitting the puff or Afro. I wish they weren't so permanent cuz I think I'd look great with them.
 
I think they are beautiful! I could see myself with sisterlocks one day, but I'd have to do some research. Maybe you call can help me - for some reason I've always had the impression that locking hair was a religious decision for some people. Is this the case? And if so, is this religious basis the origin for dreadlocks?

I'll google it (now that it's on my mind) but I'd like to see what yall know about this, because I don't quite remember where I got this impression from, but I've believed it for years. I'd have no problem wearing locked hair someday, but was always curious as to whether it was offensive to those who do it for my alleged religious reasons.
